"Season's First Tulips" by Lynda Cookson

In my quest to make more space in my studio I have sent collections of paintings to Ross's Fine Art Auctioneers in Belfast. They work closely with Gallery 1608 in Northern Ireland ... and I work with Gallery 1608.

Today (5 November 2018) this painting, "Season's First Tulips" goes on auction. The auction ends at 7pm but if not sold, will be available for purchase from their showroom.

More paintings available there in the coming weeks .....

Abstract Expressionist Palette Knife Flower Art Painting "Tulip Whimsy- Garden Party Series)" by International Abstract Artist Kimberly Conrad

14"x11"  Palette Knife Acrylic on 140 lb Watercolor Paper.

Frames beautifully in a standard 8x10 frame from your local frame, art or craft shop, no custom framing expense.

$190.00 Purchase Here

"Tulip Whimsy" (Garden Party Series) is painting #7 in the 2017
30 paintings in 30 days challenge I am doing with fellow artist Leslie Saeta

So here is my theme for the challenge this year......This past year I redecorated my dining room, and collected artwork in various styles by my favorite artists from around the world, but all in a similar color palette and the result was lovely.

Actually, it all began with a beautiful painting of a woman in a cafe that I purchased in Cortona, Italy, which became the focal point of the room.

I also collected two still life pieces, an impressionist landscape, a floral piece, and an abstract expressionism piece, all in a similar palette.

That is my inspiration for this challenge. Each week, I will choose a palette and complete 7 paintings of multiple styles within that palette.

I will try to create pieces that would exhibit beautifully together , but can also stand alone.
We shall see what shows up!!

A Thought for today.....
Thus is a NEW day. I begin anew and claim and create all that is good.
And so it is.

A Texan's Viewpoint on the European Kiss ~ White Tulips ~ Nancy Medina Art Classes and Workshops

The Kiss - White Tulips
by Nancy Medina

There is just something about that European greeting, the kiss, that always takes me by surprise. Not that I don't like it, I could get used to it, but being a gal from Texas, we were taught "The Hug" rather than "The Kiss" and so going in for the hug and suddenly getting lips on your cheek is like discovering you're doing the Cotton Eyed Joe when your partner was intent on the Texas Two Step. It's really just a different point of view on a greeting, and one that is much warmer, even than a hug. Like I said, I could get used to this whole European thing! And it's a good thing, since my France workshop is coming up in August. Mon cher, I must pack again soon!

For now I'm finally back on Texas time, the unending rains have cut off the main road into and out of Flower Mound, and I'm so thankful, yet again, to be a work at home artist! We're not paddling around in boats, though it sure looks like it from the national news. Not to worry, I have plenty of Dove chocolate and crackers and cheese. I can hold up literally for days on such awesome rations!

Here's a new video I created for you - break out the popcorn and enjoy a view of my workshop in Tuscany last week! Next stop, France!

Salt Lake City LDS Temple Painting

Prints now available. 38" x 24" x 1.5" Gallery wrapped.
My Grandma has always been a huge supporter of me and my big dreams. Her mother was also an artist and over the years my Grandma has given me mountains of brushes, paint, and art books that were my Great Grandmothers. I cherish those things and love the idea that these creative juices are somehow tied to my family tree.
Grandma used to sing to me when I was little. She wrote a song and would sing it anytime I was around.Man, I loved feeling so special and important to such a beautiful, strong, loving woman.
When she saw the SLC LDS temple painting I did last year she asked if she could have one like it. Her and my Grandpa were married there almost 60 years ago.
I was finally able to perfect the print and it turned out so well, I decided to do a limited edition run of them.
For my Grandma, thank you for believing in me and making me feel important in this gigantic world.

Tough Decisions About Italy and Blue Vintage Tulip Garden - Nancy Medina Art Classes and Workshops

Blue Vintage Tulip Garden

Class Demonstration, Sonoma, CA

It's time to make some tough decisions around Flower Mound Studio, and no, this does not involve insisting AnnieBee eliminate one toy because she got three new ones today. This is much more serious. I have to decide which Italian villages, markets, and castles to tour with my Tuscany students next week. Cortona, Siena, San Gimignano, oh my - I think I need a glass of wine! As if this were not enough pressure, I was just informed by a thoughtful and kind friend that Friday is national donut day here in the US and she will be enjoying it without me. Oy!!

Before things get completely out of hand, I have to get my sticky notes out and write stuff down. Here are a few of my jottings, if you were headed to Italy for the first time in your life, what would be on your to-do list?

A Free Tulip Video and Framed in Violet White Roses - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

Framed in Violet White Roses
by Nancy Medina

Framed in Violet White roses celebrates the push and pull of warm and cool violets, and how it can be just so much fun to let your hair down and play with color. Today the pugs and I are celebrating in the studio the release of my full-length, free tulip video. Just a flower footnote for all those who watch, unlike my professional DVDs, Pink Pirouette Tulip on video was just an amateur production done by yours truly, with her puggy assistants, so the sound is not high quality. I beg your forgiveness for that, though, if you listen closely, as a consolation prize, you might just hear snoring, snorting, barking and other assorted puggy noises! Stay tuned to the end for some fun out-takes involving the helpers!

Click here to watch your free video!

I hope you enjoy this little tulip treat, I created it for you as a thanks for walking with me on this flower-strewn path of my first year as a full-time artist, and also to celebrate hitting 14,000 Facebook fans. I thank you from the bottom of my heart - with flowers - and pug kisses, too!

Pink Blush Tulips, a New DVD, and a Radio Interview - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

Pink Blush Tulips

I was feeling quite blue about missing the tulip fest at the Dallas Arboretum this spring, when I stumbled upon a bouquet of big pink tulips at the flower market today. I could hardly wait to get them home and put them under the spotlight! Pink Blush Tulips celebrates all my favorite spring colors, with a mix of warm peach and pink spring hues.

The real prize at the market was a bundle of peonies - cross your fingers, toes and flower petals that the peonies will fluff open in the next day or two and be ready to pose for a painting! If I get really lucky, they'll hold up for my next DVD filming coming up very soon. (Stay tuned for more details on the new video lesson coming up soon...)

My first radio interview aired a few days ago, for Artists Helping Artists on Blog Talk Radio. Awesome hostesses Margaret Sheldon and Leslie Saeta put me right at ease. You can hear the whole interview, even if you missed the event, since it's all on the streaming thingy ma bob system. Break out the popcorn and enjoy!

"Bashful Blooms" Original Oil Tulips Painting by Hallie Kohn

They have every reason to be shy. The morning sun was just waking them up when I snuck up with my camera to capture the amazing light. I think they may even be blushing a bit.

Spring Fever Pink Tulips

Spring Fever Pink Tulips was one of five class demonstrations during my workshop in the Texas Hill Country this weekend. Visiting Fredericksburg, Texas, is always a treat, and we were just on the verge of what may be the best bluebonnet bloom season in quite some time, thanks to the wet winter that is behind us now. Students from Ireland, Michigan, Colorado, and across Texas painted tulips, hydrangeas, sunflowers and French landscapes, fueled by fresh fruit kolaches and cookies made from scratch, courtesy of our talented multi-tasking energizer bunny hostess Jane!

I did emphasize to everyone our holiday theme, encouraging everyone to come up with a few bunny jokes, because, everybunny needs somebunny sometime, right? Take a peep at my new Web Site to a see a slide show of the students hard at work!

And here's a little joke for you!

What is invisible and smells like carrots? Answer - Bunny farts!

Confectioners Sugar Pink Tulips - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

The large parrot tulips that spent a weekend partying with us in my North Texas Valentine's workshop lost their perk today. All that chocolate and too many donuts clearly took their toll, as they drooped and lost their petals, and were consigned, sadly, to the waste bin shortly after this painting was completed. Thank you so much, valiant bloomers, for staying up! Wait, that didn't sound quite like I had intended....

You thought I was just joking earlier this week about giving away the perfect man in my workshop, didn't you? hmmmm? As you can see in my blog today, Suzie took home this rich, good looking fellow, as she successfully drew the winning ticket! Fortunately, the other students did not decide to rush her, knock her over, and grab this delicious guy out of her grasp. Please excuse the photo, though, since there is clearly a lot of skin showing, definitely a PG sort of moment!
