Blue Delphiniums Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
Definitely one of my favorite flowers! I planted this one two years ago in the front of our house and it has literally quadrupled in size since then. There was a hummingbird there this morning, drinking... It felt like a sign.

"Elephant" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
I remember the days when all I used to paint were elephants! Beyond thrilled to say that this painting came to me the same way as my previous post--completely organically. It is so loose and I had the best time painting it. It's taken me about two years, but it kind of feels like I've come full circle with this one.

"Octopus" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
This painting was one of those that just painted itself. There is nothing more enjoyable than loosing all thought and just letting it happen. Wish it would happen every time I painted--maybe it does eventually. It's pure bliss.
After painting this, I realized it is completely meant to hang in my brother's new home. Hope they love it!

In the Zebra Zone Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
I have been wanting to do a painting of a zebra for quite some time, mainly because of the black and white patterning. Got completely "lost" in the zone on this one--love when that happens!

"Bashful Blooms" Original Oil Tulips Painting by Hallie Kohn
They have every reason to be shy. The morning sun was just waking them up when I snuck up with my camera to capture the amazing light. I think they may even be blushing a bit.

"Apple Blossoms" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I am anxiously awaiting the flowers on our tree, along with the heavenly scent.

"Free Wishes" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
There is something magical that happens when light shines through dandelions just so. I tried to keep your focus on the one with all of the thick detail on the left--it was tough. The others are in various levels of blur, but always still retain their circular shape.
I've been painting so small lately, 6x6 and 8x8 mostly, and had a really great time painting this one larger. I was thrilled to find myself painting loosely and think it adds to the magic. Wish away! :)

"Ready for Your Wish" Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
There is something so magical about dandelions. The wonder of seeing the seeds blow on the breeze continues, even as an adult. Plus, it never hurts to send a few wishes out into the world.

"Barn Owl" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I've worked my way into an extremely happy place with my painting lately. Using the brush has started to feel more natural and am loving the looseness that I've been able to achieve thus far. Getting the thick texture in there with brush as I would do with palette knife is something I'm interested in exploring more.

"Hummingbird on Milkweed" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
Milkweed--not just for the bees and butterflies!

"Monarch on Zinnia" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
I remember when I was younger there were monarchs everywhere. It seems they've had a hard time the past few years. Hopefully soon they will be crowding my zinnias like they did a few years ago--every flower with its own butterfly.
"Geraniums" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
Geraniums adorn our front step every year. I love them because they just keep flowering and looking good all summer long.

"Robin" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn
I think this photo was taken in late summer because the tree has berries on it. Not sure if this is a serviceberry or some type of crabapple? I just love how nestled in amongst the leaves the robin looks, and also happy to have seen the robins already this spring.

"Lilac" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I could paint flowers every day right now--and who could blame me really?! My kids wanted me to paint an eagle... I went with lilacs instead. :)

"Heavenly Bluebells" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
I'd like to start out this post by thanking all of you for looking and for following my blog. This is such an incredible journey for me, and each painting is a new lesson in learning. I can't imagine doing anything I love more. Thank you :)
Bluebells are another one of my absolute favorite flowers. They will always remind me of our family friend Lisa--got my bluebells from her son's yard. There is no grass there, only bluebells. Heaven.

"Alliums" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
Alliums are one of my favorite flowers to grow and paint! I had a lot of fun painting this one nice and loose with brush.

Siberian Squill Wildflower Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
This is the very first flower that will pop up in my yard in early spring. Apparently it is an invasive flower, but ours are growing in a place where nothing else does. I am always thrilled to see a carpet of blue leading down my yard into the greenbelt. Yay for spring!

"Red-Bellied Woodpecker" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
This handsome guy is out on our trees or suet every day--at least I think it's the same one! We have a few different varieties that come into our yard pretty regularly. This one is my favorite though.

"Two Tody Birds" Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
Painted these little sweeties earlier this month; it may be the fourth time I've painted them. I thought this time it might be nice to have two together.
