Original oil painting commission Florence Italy by Karen Tarlton

A Kiss in Florence
36x48
SOLD and Painted on Commission

This large painting was a joy to paint for this loving couple.
It is very large and detailed so it took some time
but I love Italy and scenes like this take me back.

I hope that every day that they look at this they think of two things.
The love they have for each other, first of all
and
the wonderful time they had in Florence together that day, at that moment in time,
which is now forever caught on canvas!

Let me know if you have need of a special painting.
Happy to do it.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Stop by my website to see available paintings.  I cannot believe this is the end of June... and tomorrow is July.  I count through the summer months in anticipation of Fall, often trying to hurry time.  Does not make sense!

July is ahead with many family activities and joyful gatherings... birthdays, the Fourth of July and lazy summer evenings.  My twinkle light surround the back porch area... the mosquito plants surround the porch and the little egg filled with citronella is doing its job. Memories in the making on these hot summer days and lazy evenings.  Terry has our backyard filled with roses, flowers and our garden. Our morning hours are spent from about 6-7 in the garden and hand watering the trees and plants in the beds around the house. They have predicted a rainy July and I would embrace it readily.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1

Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Small Seascape |Tropical Waters by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Oil SOLD

If you follow this blog, you know how much I like to paint seascapes.  Not just any seascapes, but scenes from my own little piece of the Atlantic.

SOLD

The waves were coming in quickly on this day.  I think a "tropical depression" was off shore.  Tropical depression is a weatherman's term, several steps below a hurricane, but usually meaning the winds will kick up to some degree and rain is on the horizon.  Of course, in Florida, this time of the year.....rain is always on the horizon.

This photo is a little wonky.....sorry!  When I take photos of my paintings, I usually have 5-10 paintings to photograph, trying to get 5-6 shots of each.  I get a little production line going...and I guess I didn't pay much attention to how this one was lined up :)

This summer, we have been tied to home and we are missing our annual trips to the mountains. We will be there soon and will really appreciate getting a chance to leave this hot and humid weather behind for a stay in the cool mountain country.  How do you spend your summer?

On The Lamb

Here is the final on this painting. You can see I pulled in some soft oranges in the sky  contrasting with the blues. The reds are strong in the center of the painting contrasting the next layer of green sliding across in the lower middle area and the bottom is a combo of white, grey red and blue. It is a strong piece with very thick layers of paint.  Email Kim at Robert Kelly if you are interested in this painting.

Here are some close up images below.

Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Seascape Painting | California Sun by Carol Schiff |m 5x7" Oil

SOLD
Shelley Smart documents the day to day activities at the beach on her great blog "A Year at the Beach".  She is a fantastic artist and photographer and was nice enough to share some of her photography with me.  So, I painted this little seascape from her reference.

How could I turn down a scene like this!   I still didn't have it out of my blood, so I decided to try a little acrylic abstract based on the same reference.

SOLD
Shelley, thank you...I hope you approve.

Under the Umbrella - 201434
4x4" Oil on mounted linen
Started messing around with brushes again today.  Really enjoyed it. Also relieved to be back on Centurion linen again!  This painting was about complimentary colors in 3 sets. Original oil paintings Harbor Boats and Buzzing Bees by Karen Tarlton

Buzzing Bees
Oil
Well I do have many other paintings for  you to go check out in my Etsy shop, but
here are a couple of my recent favorites.
I'm planning a trip to the beach, in Bethany Delaware for the 4th.
This boat painting is in anticipation really. Yes so excited.
And today I had a hot and humid day of gardening.
Planted Vinca, lavender, and Lantana along with some Lariope grass on the front sloped
area along the steps.
It troubles me that I don't see many honey bees anymore. Where have they gone?

Daily Painting | Abstract Painting | Small Oil Painting | Wishful Thinking by Carol Schiff | 14x11" SOLD

Well, it has happened again.........I had the urge to try my hand at abstract again.

SOLD
I was determined to do a mixed media  abstract, get out my many Golden mediums, and just have a fun day playing.  Kind of like kindergarten.  Why did I think that?

Don't I know that mixed media abstract is one of the most stressful things I can try?  Why don't I remember that my mind goes blank, that I'm not one of those people that can stand in front of a blank canvas and pick up a brush without a plan?

Why do I always think, this time it will be different?

Well it wasn't.  I worked at least 4, maybe 5 hours with my Golden mediums, getting the texture just right, carefully choosing the acrylic colors, blah, blah, blah.  It was a mess.

The next day, I sanded down as much as I could,  turned to my beloved oils, and ended up with this result.  Something I can live with.  Something that might give me a tad more confidence the next time I decide to do an abstract.  Something that I really kind of ........ like.  NEVER GIVE UP!!

1568 Pair of Flambouyants on the River

My view out my front window has been a lot like this lately, my royal poinciana tree has been blooming and so has the neighbor's tree.  I moved the trees a bit closer together and changed some other things around.  Its been gorgeous out here lately.

Lots of nice thick paint on this one.

The painting is 5 x 7 inches, oil on masonite. $100.

New Colorado Aspen Tree Oil Painting by Niki Gulley

“Aspen Concerto” ©2014 Niki Gulley
24” x 18” textured oil painting

Colorado’s celebrated quaking aspen trees stand arrow straight in the valleys and
up and down the hills.
Slim white trunks sing out against the forest background and each leaf provides
a sparkling symphony of notes whispering through the mountains.
Flames of yellow leaves flicker against autumn’s burning reds
and the deep, cool blue mountain streaked with early banks of snow.
This painting captures the breathtaking colors of
Colorado in the fall, the Aspens at their most beautiful, the peaceful snow-banked mountain, the rustling murmur and musical sigh of the fluttering leaves.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her contemporary landscape paintings.

I ran into this guy on an early morning walk.  He was under the causeway and all business.

It was only a matter of minutes before he had his breakfast.

It must have been a favorite fishing spot in the area, because he was surrounded by lazy pelicans (they were watching, not working) and several fishermen in boats.  None of this seem to bother him.

Big Boy by Sally Shisler

Big Boy - 201433
4x4" Oil on Board
Aaaccckkk!  Sometimes things come easily; sometimes not so much.  I do love the final result with this painting, but BOY, did I have some challenges to face.  Gessoboard - not so much....I'm going to go back to my Centurion linen, which I have been successfully using for years.  Thought I'd try this board to see how I might like it, but it's too slick.  Black dog - BOY, painting "black" is a great lesson.  Paint what you see; not what you think you see.  Let's think...keep your palette and colors clean lest you cause confusion and frustration. I arrived at the painting's title for two reasons.  First I said 'boy' (among other choice words) a lot during the painting, and secondly this is a seriously big black dog for a hot summer day on the beach : ).

Please note: I am now offering private lessons in my studio on Mondays from 10-1 and Wednesdays from 10-1 and 2-5. If these times don't work for your schedule, I can certainly do my best to accommodate what you have available - don't be afraid to ask!

"Furioso (Furious)" by Karla Nolan

This is the sort of sunset I'm used to seeing in the summer evenings here in northern Colorado.  Sometimes it almost seems as if the clouds have their own personalities, whirling about in the atmospheric winds overhead.  Bright, bold colors with blue hues, hints of turquoise, the silhouette of the foothills leading to the Rocky Mountains, the Continental Divide, the backbone of North America.  Am I a lucky girl or what???

"Furioso (Furious)", 4"x12" unframed palette knife oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, $100 includes s/h in continental U.S., click Paypal button shown on my blogspot, listed below, or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Golf Cart Companions" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

This was a commissioned painting done using brush instead of palette knife. I think once I become more comfortable painting people (this might be my third painted person), then I would love to try using the knives. It would definitely require me painting a looser representation, something I know would be fun to work on more.

"Ranch Reflections" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

This was a commissioned painting done on an ochre colored ground. I started with a detailed drawing and laid in an underpainting with thinned paint to get an idea of the composition. There were a few different photos used for the painting. The picture of the house had dark reflections in the glass and the other reflective surfaces. There were other photos that showed the home from far away, and it was surrounded by trees, which I loved.

Abstract Landscape Painting | Contemporary Art | Palette Knife Painting | HUES by Carol Schiff | 18x36x1.5" Oil

I wanted to do an abstract landscape in a larger size than I have worked with in the past.  I remembered driving through the fields of Georgia just as the sun broke over the horizon one morning, and decided to paint based on that memory.

I enjoyed the experience of painting on a larger scale and tried hard to keep the freshness of my smaller abstracts.

We used to say that photos never lie, but as you know, that is not true these days.  I just returned from a short trip to New York City with my daughter and grandson.  He had lots of fun taking photos that lie.  This is one of my favorites.....

We also walked by a sports show being filmed on TV.  That is my grandson in the background, making like the circus strong man.  Hope they didn't mind!
