There is nothing more inviting than a glider in a flower-filled garden, and nowhere I'd rather be on a cool day. I'm home after teaching two back to back workshops in Collierville, Tennessee, this week, and heading to St. Louis is a few days to swing a brush in my hometown with some of my favorite students in the whole world. As soon as I'm back from St. Louis, I'll be heading to San Diego, California, but before leaving for these trips, I'm hosting a double double giveaway on my Facebook fan page. Check out my page for a chance to win Breakfast Nook Hydrangeas, a fine art print. I'll be announcing the winner Wednesday night, and may the flower force be with you!

Poppy Garden, Part One of my new DVD

I’m super excited to announce my new double feature DVD has arrived! With two full-length lessons on poppies and pansies, you’ll want to stock up on Milk Duds and popcorn, and maybe get a nice little four footed helper to sit in your lap during the show. Tomorrow morning I’ll be shipping out all the pre-orders to flower friends in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and across the US. No worries, though, I’m saving a poppy with your name on it! Here’s where you can order your copy….

Confectioners Sugar Pink Tulips - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

The large parrot tulips that spent a weekend partying with us in my North Texas Valentine's workshop lost their perk today. All that chocolate and too many donuts clearly took their toll, as they drooped and lost their petals, and were consigned, sadly, to the waste bin shortly after this painting was completed. Thank you so much, valiant bloomers, for staying up! Wait, that didn't sound quite like I had intended....

Dulce de Leche Sunflower was my one hour demonstration yesterday evening for the Irving Arts Association. I had such a fun time visiting with artists from across North Texas in attendance, and gave away a limited edition hydrangea print as a prize. Today I'm finishing up preparation for my biggest art show of the year coming up this weekend, Dallas Arboretum Artscape. I hope to see you there!

Sunflower Sunset and Postcards From the Beach - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

Sunflower Sunset

Sunflower Sunset was one of my six classroom demonstrations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida this weekend. Tomorrow morning we leave the classroom behind for a day of plein air painting. My hosts found a charming cottage with a bougainvillea garden, so we shall be out bright and early to paint. I specialize in a "kinder, gentler" plein air, and have a few ladies who will have tables and chairs for their outdoor painting experience, with an ocean breeze and a palm tree swaying nearby. The owner of the garden was so kind, he stopped by my class today with his chocolate lab to make sure we were coming over tomorrow to paint his garden. He was super excited, as he is also an artist! I love these little simpatico moments in life, don't you?

Stay tuned, I promise to share more of my Florida adventure with you on my art bloggy. In the meantime, here is a postcard for you of sunset at dinner on the beach. Sure wish you were here with us!

The demo collapsed with color....

Wishing you were here....

Sleepy Head Daisies was painted around midnight-ish last night, after finishing a few other paintings. It was a prolific day in Flower Mound Studio! Today has been just as busy, the hubby put together my new shelving unit specially designed for lining up wet paintings while I went to town with the tape gun, packing up paintings heading to new homes in Arizona, Maryland and Colorado. And now, for the scoop on the giveaway! Read more....

You know you're an artist when....you have a TON of things to do and you stop everything to paint because the light catches your eye on some colorful object...in the dining room you recently converted into Studio Number Two....after getting rid of your perfectly good dining room table. Anyone else ever had this problem? Hmmm?
