"Bashful Blooms" Original Oil Tulips Painting by Hallie Kohn
They have every reason to be shy. The morning sun was just waking them up when I snuck up with my camera to capture the amazing light. I think they may even be blushing a bit.

"Tulips Don't Lie" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
Wisconsin had the longest, coldest, strangest winter that I can remember. It is with total disbelief that I acknowledge there were a minimum of six months of it, at least 30 days of below zero temperatures. I stay home with my younger son, and we literally Stayed Home. Too many days. We forgot what warmth felt like for a while, and that is not a good thing. Then, these tulips came and I knew. We could crack a window, bust out the ankles, and romanticize "that crazy winter" in past tense.

"Hibiscus Hiatus" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
My mom and I went to Washington DC in August. One place we visited was the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. We spent some time sitting around the fountain in the center of the garden, which was where I captured a photo of this great flower. My favorite part though was discovering the little Pavilion Cafe, a convenient lunch location that just happened to serve icy cold sangria to hot, thirsty tourists.

"No Misting Required" Original Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
This orchid painting was a photograph I took while at the US Botanic Garden in Washington DC. Such an amazing display; I had never realized quite how many varieties of orchid there actually are. Wish I knew the name of this one--please comment if you know it.
I have had orchids in my home (pre-children) and do love them. It takes a special type of plant lover to keep these going well. Seems a painting of one would be a much better option these days!
Find included two photos of additional orchids seen at the garden. Looking forward to painting more of them. Such a beautiful, juicy color palette of flowers!

"Trumpet Vine" Original Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
These gorgeous vines are a sight to see! Long ago I wanted to plant one in my own yard, until I learned how powerful the vine is. I've seen them growing on tipped fences, bent posts, and even up trees. You would need a pretty stable structure to withhold the strength of this vine.
This painting just flowed so easily--love when that happens!

"Zinnia" Original Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art
Every year I plant the giant size zinnia seeds by our front entry. It's great to have that color last into early fall and fun to see what colors come up. Besides that, the butterflies love them.
