Golden Cypress out at Indrio Savannas, plein air alla prima
I painted this out at the Indrio Savannas. I had a lot of trouble picking out where I wanted to paint, wanted to get the golden colors of the cypress trees. It was gorgeous out, I was dressed real warm and had to shed some layers. Its 8 x 10 inches, oil palette knife on masonite. Click the link below if interested.

I was born in Ft. Pierce and lived there all my life. I have an Associate in Art degree from the Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce. I consider myself primarily self taught.
I am a member of Plein Air Florida, and the leader of Plein Air Painters of the Treasure Coast. My paintings are in art collections worldwide.
I have co-published an article in Plein Air Magazine.
I have contributed paintings to Art for Nature, Heathcote Botanical Gardens, Habitat for Humanity and various other charities.
I love painting outside using the painting knife. I love the rich texture and lustrous effects I can get with the knife.
My studio is located in my home on Indian River Drive in Fort Pierce. I use both of my names in my art, Lori McNamara and Lenore McNamara.

1800 Fishing out at the Preserve, Plein Air
Everything was done on site except for the fisherman, I put him in when I got home.

Currently, I am working on a series of exotic birds and other animals done in acrylic paint, with a palette knife, for texture and brilliant color. I enjoy the late part of the day, just before dusk, especially when viewing anything relating to water (reservoir, lake, river,
stream, ocean). The way the light of the sky bounces off the water is
especially intriguing and putting all of the hue together makes for a
great challenge. I hope I've met it in the painting.

Escapism. Defying time. Serenity and solace. Reliving treasured moments...the reasons I paint and make artwork. The creative acts are surely the most pleasant and yet difficult of all. Color and form are special friends. The challenge of perfecting artwork is monumental and exhilarating. This effort has grown to be both friend and family, which are the two most important aspects of my life. Judaica is my most challenging art...Hebrew and I don't always get along!
I'm mainly self-taught in art, relying on intuition, experimentation, benefiting from studying books, visiting museums, galleries and learning painting techniques from other artist friends/relatives. I've studied pastels with Clive Tyler, taken oils with Daniel Edmondson. My newest medium is painting on glass, inspired by an Italian master, bringing this art technique home and applying my own topics. My oils are mainly with palette knife.
This art style might be called "abstract realism", an oxymoron in its own right. Favorite contemporary artists include Cruciani, L Horowitz, Berberian, S Stork, C Tyler, D Edmondson.

Sail Away by Joan Terrell

Sail Away was painted entirely by using a palette knife. The thick texture displays the ripples of paint as the sunlight ebbs and flows over these colorful sailboats and their reflections. Looking forward to more beautiful days on the lake soon.
I'm an artist living in disappearing rural Georgia about an hour outside of Atlanta. I love to create contemporary artwork and am especially inspired by the voices of flowers and whispers from my beloved Appalachian mountains. I have painted at this little lake a couple of times and here it is as a Spring impression. I'm working up a larger version of this in the near future. I painted at this location a few years ago with Bryan Mark Taylor as part of a workshop. I keep revisiting this site.
