Karen Tarlton Palette knife painting workshop in San Diego

PALETTE KNIFE & OIL WORKSHOP

Karen Tarlton will be teaching a 3 day workshop on Palette knife Painting at Live Your Art Studio in Carlsbad, CA. Sat, July 13th through Monday 15th, from 10 am to 1:30. This class is appropriate for all skill levels.

Let's paint with vibrant color! Three days packed full of incredible demos, group painting, and instructional time, all with a palette knife and oil paint.

Karen will help you to paint not only what you see, but also what you feel, in a free, spontaneous, and more expressive way. Karen will teach you how to get playful with your knife strokes, get fantastic color and movement, but most importantly, inspire you to paint with your heart.

If you would like to reserve your spot please write to Karen at: Karensfineart.net or Karensfineart on facebook, see events section to reserve your spot.

Ocean Beach Pier at Dusk painting by Karen Tarlton palette knife fine art impressionism

This is my third OB pier painting.

I've painted it at sunrise, sunset and now dusk.

Still need to paint a foggy scene and maybe an early morning light we'll see.

It's amazing how the light is never the same twice.

Original oil painting Autumn Early Morning Light Serenity palette knife fine art impressionism by Karen Tarlton

Every once in awhile I paint a large landscape for the pure joy of it.

This one is almost dry and just listed and it brought me a sense of calm

to paint it, as I hope it does to you as you look at it :)

I decided to make these a bit more blue then they turned out this year.

This bush has is very old and years ago had blue flowers. It's amazing how the blooms

change color with the acid content of the soil.

I always enjoy painting with bright colors and lively strokes of thick oil.

I'm fascinated by the clear California light and arid beauty of the wine country.

Original oil painting Sweden's Finest Flower by Karen Tarlton

A new Sweden inspired painting.

The prettiest flower in Scandinavia are these tulips.

We traveled all over Sweden, Denmark and Norway and it was cold yet these beautiful

flowers were there, chilly or not, and the color so striking!

Cheerful, colorful and whimsical.

Life is too short for art to be anything but joyous!

I hope you have a sunny day

and  laugh out loud as much as you can today!

Here are a few of my latest colorful angels.

We recently returned from a trip to Sweden, England, Denmark and Norway.

I loved the trip but it was awesome that everywhere I went, I saw angels.

Angel statues, bus stops, even the town my brother lives in is the town of Angels

so here are a few of my inspirations!

Original oil painting Spring in Paris by Karen Tarlton

Inspired from my very first trip to Paris, I fell in love with everything about it. The city is one of the most romantic in the world.  And the food and wine are fabulous.  So you can tell I have Spring Fever, oui?

There is a story line for these paintings actually.

Today I woke up to birds chirping outside my window and the loud rain from the night before

seemingly coming to an end....

then the downpour and then it actually snowed again.

So here they are.

I'm just no longer buying it :)
