"Sand Harbor III - Lake Tahoe" by Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

This is summer at Sand Harbor on the east shore of Lake Tahoe looking towards south shore. Great location and I have been painting a series of Sand Harbor scenes past few months. Great fun!

I getting ready to spend a week with two very good plein air artists up in the Sierras in a couple of weeks.
Antonin Passemard and his wife Anastasia Dukhanina will be teaching in North Lake Tahoe and then off to teach at the 2015 Plein air Convention in Monterey. This is a paint over from a similar composition, but needed a little redo...ha.

This is a favorite location to paint in Blackwood Canyon on the West shore of Lake Tahoe, not too far from Homewood. This is a Spring version with plenty of water coming off the slopes and with some help from the several beaver dams just behind this location.

"Truckee River Morning" Plein Air by Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

Painted on a early Fall day on the Truckee river. Very cold morning and when I moved my easel back into the shade the painting hit a over hanging limb and popped out of the easel face down....after a good 30 minutes I was able to remove the debris...Good fun.

"Twin Peaks - Ward Valley Lake Tahoe" by Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

I really enjoyed painting from this location on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. I have just completed another version of this in the 9"x12" format. The 9x12 was a plein air piece I was working on for the NLT Plein Air Open (http://www.northtahoearts.com/) in Lake Tahoe, but I decided to scrape it and redo it in the stuidio.This came out much how I had hoped, which is pretty rare....ha. I'll post the larger one next week after it is signed.
