Autumn Serenity painting palette knife fine art impressionism by Karen Tarlton

Every time I paint a colorful fisherman painting, my heart experiences an intense feeling of calmness and peace. I know exactly that this feeling comes from the relaxed atmosphere of this serene landscape and it's beauty is intensified because of this sense of calm.

Fall Landscape Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Oil on Panel

Today I am posting another new autumn painting.  I am so inspired by the beautiful landscapes beyond my windows.

Purchase Here

There is nothing better than a bright, sunny, fall day, with those gorgeous leaves, highlighted against a bright blue sky.

This is a cute little house, down the road, in Waynesville NC.  A little story book house!

Time for pumpkins, burning leaves, and roasting marshmallows.  The local orchards are full of apples and cider.  YUM!  If I could just find a hay ride, life would be complete.

Today's painting is of one of the vineyards we visited on our drive around the Var the other day, the same drive that produced Sweet Chestnut Walk and Cork Sentinels. You can see the Maures in the background. The vines were full of nice juicy grapes. Some of the leaves were turning, so maybe it is close to harvest time. These vineyards produce the delicious Provence Rosé the area is famous for. I painted these vineyards in the autumn last year after the harvest

Changeover - The start of Autumn with WIP photos, by Marion Hedger

Changeover -  The start of Autumn
by Marion Hedger
30x40cm oil on gallery wrapped canvas

We don't get much in the way of autumn colours here in the Alpes Maritime although sometimes you get surprising little pockets where the autumn colours shine. This lovely spot is in the Parc d'Esteron in the Alpes Maritime. We found it by accident down a tiny track we decided to explore during one of our country drives.

Daily Landscape Painting, "Blue Ridge Switchback" 6x8 SOLD

Today's daily painting is one of my favorites.  We decided to take a drive to Water Rock Knob, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in beautiful North Carolina.

SOLD

It was a beautiful, clear October day and I tried hard to capture the clear skies and gorgeous fall foliage.

Living in Florida for 40 years, I miss the fall colors and smells I remember from my childhood in Ohio.  It is  the best part of my visits to North Carolina and I try to get there in mid-October every year.

As a child I loved to rake the leaves into a pile and take a running jump right into the middle.  In those days we would rake the yard and then burn the leaves.  There was nothing better than walking to school on a sidewalk covered with leaves, crackling under my feet as I shuffled along.  Evenings conjure up memories of hay rides followed by warm donuts and cider.  That's before the days of Dunkin Donuts, these were home made and covered in sugar and cinnamon.

I am sorry my grandchildren will never have those memories, but I know when they think back on their childhoods they will find something equally as pleasing to remember.

Every once in awhile I paint a large landscape for the pure joy of it.
This one is almost dry and just listed and it brought me a sense of calm
to paint it, as I hope it does to you as you look at it :)

Persephone, by New York artist, Celeste Plowden

Persephone, from the legends of Greek and Roman mythology, finally escaped the confines of the underworld and became the essence of Spring, which she loved. Bright yellow greens fly out of a dark, autumnal space of burgundy, which, when gliding upward, becomes leaves and flowers in a background of warm reds and yellows. This abstract floral is painted with acrylic on canvas, UV varnish, sides painted, wired and ready to hang. Painted with a palette knife for texture. 11x14
Available at my Chairish store.

Irish Sea, November, by New York artist, Celeste Plowden

The Irish Sea looked dark on this late afternoon as we drove by.  I caught the last phase of sundown, as it was setting over the water, and ships in the distance.  This seascape was painted entirely in various shades of Prussian blue, except for the faint wash of pink and lavender over the harbor. Acrylic on archival and acid free canvas board, UV varnish, ready to pop into a standard size 11x14 frame. painted with a palette knife for texture. 11x14, available at my Chairish store.
