"Hot Lands" by Lynda Cookson

I wonder, does anyone else see the days of the week in colour? I always have and somehow thought everyone else would too ... but it would seem not!

This is what I see when you say a day of the week to me:

Monday BLUE sometimes WHITE (mood related?)
Tuesday GREEN
Wednesday ORANGE
Thursday PURPLE
Friday A LIVELY BLUE GREY
Saturday CAMEL / BEIGE
Sunday YELLOW

Anyway, it feels like Sunday today, although it's Monday, so I'm choosing a yellowy abstract which makes me think of Sunday and my country of South Africa.

Rail Crossing by Janice Tingum - original oil painting

Rail Crossing
by Janice Tingum
8" x 8
Oil on 7/8" deep cradled panel

The rural landscape often reminds me of a patchwork quilt, stitched together by country roads, tree shelterbelts, and the occasional railroad line. I like using a palette knife because of the rich texture and color it produces on the smooth panel. This original oil painting is done in an American impressionistic style and is available in my Etsy shop.

"Conservation" by Janice Tingum

Conservation by Janice Tingum
Oil on panel
11" x 14"

Conservation of the land takes many forms. In agriculture, this can mean leaving soil out of production for a year or more, rotating crops, weed control and planting trees as windbreaks. This scene captures several of these conservation efforts at work.

This impressionistic landscape was painted with a palette knife and most of it was done en plein air.

The last painting in my studio sale.  Painted on location at a friend's Arizona ranch. With the clouds in the background behind the windmill, it was an afternoon  sky becoming warmer in color. The field had lots of vines and plants overgrowing some of the junk. free shipping in US
