This view is a little further down the road from where the coastal pines were.
It is a lovely stretch of road winding along the headland between Cannes and St Raphael and with the Esterel national park in the background.
Red rocks and azure seas
The rocks are really red, and the change in the landscape from the white limestone of the Alpes Maritime is remarkable. The red stone is used for walls and building and gives a deep terracotta look to the area. The contrast between the red and the azure seas is a painter's dream.
