Carnations & Lilies 8 X 8 Oil by Ann McCann

This is a small vignette of carnations and lilies, of pink, blue and white. The arrangement was in bright light so I captured that with the light blues and pinks.

Blue Iris Lily Garden and Countdown to Dallas Arboretum Artscape - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

Blue Iris Lily Garden by Nancy Medina
15X30
Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas

My iris garden produced yellow, white, purple and pale blue flowers this morning. This sudden proliferation of profuse color has me just a bit worried that it will be a short bloom season. Rather than see this as the glass half empty garden, I'm going to believe this will be the best iris season ever in the gardens of Flower Mound Studio!

Blue Iris Lily Garden is based on those blooms, and one of over 100 new paintings I'll have on display at Dallas Arboretum Artscape April 26-27. I can't believe it's almost here, holy cow I have to make some tags and labels and decide what color apron to wear that day. So much to do, so many flowers to paint, so little time! Here's a bit more on Artscape, I sure hope to see you there!

Twinkle Toes Stargazer Lily and Holiday Festivities by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Twinkle Toes Stargazer Lily
by Nancy Medina
8X6
Palette Knife/Oil

Twinkle Toes Stargazer is a new small work, I couldn't resist creating at least one flower that reminded me of the holidays this morning, before diving into preparations for a feast with friends today and Mom tomorrow, and putting up the Christmas tree this weekend! This is my favorite time of year, and our first year to have little Hannah the Rescue Pug as an official part of our family. I hope you have something that smells absolutely delicious cooking today and loved ones nearby, two and four footed alike!

Lily Song Stargazers by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Class Demonstration
20X16
Oil on Archival Panel

Lily Song Stargazers was my class demonstration this morning, starring my new green bowl - the original green bowl, which had appeared in dozens of my older paintings, met a sad demise at the Dallas Arboretum in class one day, when I scooted a table over and it fell to the floor. I like to think these flowers are all saying Ooooo! and Ahhhh! as they gaze at the green bowl, but then my mind does tend to run to silly things like that....

Lavender Lilies by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Lavender Lilies
by Nancy Medina
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel
Lavender Lilies is the daily newbie in Flower Mound Studio as I prepare for my Rockwall Texas workshop tomorrow morning. I'll be getting up around 4:30 am to make the trek across Texas to this beautiful town on the lake. I went a bit overboard at Central Market (*sound of harps*) flower market today, buying red carnations, sunflowers, rose hips, white and pale yellow roses, lilies and purple, fuschia and white larkspur. Plus greenery. It really was not my fault. Again, someone left me in a flower store with a charge card and no adult supervision whatsoever.

Looking Up, pink lilies floral oil painting by Marion Hedger

Looking Up, Pink Lilies by Marion Hedger
18x24cm (approx 7"x10")
Oil on canvas panel, painted with a brush and finished with a palette knife.
For sale on Daily Paintworks HERE

Several years ago I planted several containers with lily bulbs. Once they stop flowing they are put into a corner of the garden and forgotten about. But each year they perform wonderfully. Their only care is watering and a bit of feed. These are lilies from one of those containers. Painted alla prima, in situ. It's lovely painting outside, but the sun does have a habit of moving around making it difficult to catch the light. You have to make up your mind early on where the lights and darks are to be placed.

SOLD ~ Summer Born Stargazers by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Summer Born Stargazers
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Summer Born Stargazers is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, and just a quick entry today since big thunderstorms are rolling across North Texas. The tornado sirens have not gone off in Flower Mound yet, but the largest storm cells are surrounding us on the West and North. What does one do when you have four little dogs in a tornado watch? You hunker down in the smallest bathroom in the house, with pillows, your cell phone, and a large bag of chips to keep everyone happy.

SOLD ~ Lilies and Lavender and Rare Bird Sightings by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

 Lilies and Lavender
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Lilies and Lavender is the newest daily painting, and a chance to paint my new little stone bird sculpture. I rolled the little bird in a bit of white paint tonight, but I may give him another milk bath tomorrow. It seemed appropriate to include the bird, since this morning, while standing in my Mother's back yard in East Texas, a rare little bird landed 6 feet away from me. Read more...

Love Always Lily and Rose Garden by Texas Artist Nancy Medina

Love Always Lily and Rose Garden
by Nancy Medina
36X24
Palette Knife/Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Love Always Lily and Rose Container Garden is the newest work in Flower Mound Studio, and was finished around 3 am. If it weren't for caffeine, I'm not quite sure I could have pulled this off! It's been a few days since I painted, and I just returned from one of the best Thanksgiving meals ever at Mom's house. My sisters and our family have so much to be thankful for, another year with Mom, being at the top of that list. Here's wishing you a wonderful holiday with lots of delicious things to eat and loved ones nearby!
