"Blue Mountains" by Lynda Cookson
Being a self-taught artist ... with a handful of well-selected art courses thrown in there ... I've tried my hand at various styles, even within the palette knife spectrum. This is one of them, only recently uploaded for sale.

Derelict by Lisa Elley. 100% Palette Knife Oil Painting

I was inspired to paint this incredible abandoned farmhouse in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. It dates back to about the 1860's. The corrugated iron roof just screamed cadmium red medium, which I simply can't resist. The typically New Zealand overcast, yet glary sky had a little pocket where the sun shone through and lit up the grass with a gorgeous golden hue.

Against All Odds by Lisa Elley

Against All Odds. 2012. 8 X 10. Oil on Canvas. 100% Palette Knife Painting.

This lonesome tree stands in a bay on the shore of Lake Wanaka in New Zealand.
If you google "tree in lake wanaka" you will find many images of this intrepid survivor!
Submerged at certain times of the year, somehow it battles on, providing us with a splendid example of the fortitude of nature! I thought it deserved to be painted.

Milford Sound by Lisa Elley

Milford Sound was deemed the eight wonder of the world
by Rudyard Kipling, and is New Zealand's
most popular tourist destination.
by Rudyard Kipling, and is New Zealand's
most popular tourist destination.
The sheer walls of the fiord rise 3900 ft
and it is one of the wettest places on earth,
hence the lush greenery and occasional tree avalanche
into the cold waters where dolphins, seals,
penguins and whales can be seen.

"Coromandel Quietude" by Lisa Elley. 2012. 8 X 24. Oil on Canvas. 100% Palette Knife.

The Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand has to be
one of the most beautiful, unspoilt places on the planet.
Kiwis know this, so it is a popular holiday destination.
Nobody on the beach, balmy but not humid,
Pohutukawas blooming, native birds singing.
Go visit, you'll see what I mean!
