Safe Harbor
I can't remember a time that I didn't have an artistic pursuit but I found my true love with painting. Although I enjoy exploring with different techniques and materials, I primarily work in oils with an abstract style. Thick paint placed with a palette knife and strong geometric shapes are often found in my paintings.
After earning a degree in Business Admin/Marketing, I went on to several "Big Girl" corporate jobs and then owned and ran a design business in Hawaii, importing antiques from the mainland. My education was rounded out through the UC Berkeley Extension Art Program and the College of Marin Art and Design Program. I am fortunate to have had wonderful instructors as well as the insightful critiques of my fun, fellow painters.

Cools me off painting this and just looking at it. I love looking at the ocean. I love the sound of the waves crashing on the beach and the feel of the cool ocean breeze in my hair.

Cruising Along - Janet Bludau
This 8x8 oil on board will be at the Newport Beach Balboa Island Annual Artwalk this Sunday. It can be hung as is, placed on an easel or inserted into a frame. I will have easels at the Artwalk and also a White Floater Frame that looks wonderful with this piece.

Just got back from visiting California...San Diego and Santa Barbara had some great surf and I took lots of photos to paint! Many more summer beach scenes are on the way.

A Univ of MO grad with a BA in graphic design/photography teaching her to discover true light and its attributes to landscapes-seen in her photos and carried over to her painted canvas. Pratt started her own business in '03 where she is able to spend time with her children.“My boys inspire me to recreate the art I enjoyed as a child,creating new perspectives using color and painting techniques.She has found inspiration from other abstract artists,S. Spillar(MO),A.Tuso(AZ),E.Chapman(MO.Her interest in these artists lead her to become involved with a nationally recognized group known as the “Daily Abstract Painters.” She is in her second year with DPAG whose works are featured in “American Art Collector” magazine.Pratt has been twice featured in the magazine’s “Sold” section. She has also been in South West Art Magazine and is a Contemporary Fine Art Intl juried “Signature”artist.Her paintings invoke senses of emotion and feeling.“A majority of my pieces have deep personal meaning.It takes a few of life’s rough patches to create my best work.
