Expressionist Abstract Seascape, Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Free Shipping in USA

For me, the best time to visit the beach is sunrise or sunset.  It is such a spiritual experience.

Purchase Here

In the morning, I am usually alone.  Just me, my camera, the birds, and possible a lone fisherman, trying his luck.

At sunset, you may not be alone, but in a group of spectators, standing in awe, as the sun sinks into the sea.

Both experiences will enrich your day.

Abstract Seascape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 11x14" Original Oil Painting

It is so hard to believe, that we have been living in the mountains of North Carolina for 9 months.  I marvel at the beautiful mountain scenes outside my door.  Asheville has sooo much to offer!

But there is something it cannot offer...the beach, the sea, the salt air.

Maybe that is why I was moved to do this abstract.

Purchase here

I had fun playing with the direction of my knife strokes.  Still a minimalist painting, but with a little added interest.   Hmmmm, I see a mountain abstract in my future!

The perfect wall decor for a beach house, or for someone dreaming of a beach house.

We will be heading back to the beach soon, and I will have sand on my toes, once again.

Have a blessed day!

Small Seascape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Churning", 6x8" Oil SOLD

This small seascape is a study for a much larger piece.  The only question in my mind is "How large?"

SOLD
I am very happy with the understated color which makes the brighter hues really pop.  I am not sure if it would be call an abstract or impressionistic.......what do you think?

What I do know, I really enjoyed painting it and want to try it again and go BIG!

Thanks for reading my blog today.

Abstract Seascape, Daily Painting, "Seascape Sunrise" SOLD

Now that the festivities are over, it is time to get back to work.  I love a vacation, but it is a good feeling to get back to my routines and spend time in the studio again.

SOLD

I am still working on commission portraits, so it feels good to go to the other side and do a light-hearted abstract piece.

Living close to the ocean, the sea turns up in many of my abstracts.

Have a great day!

Daily Painting, Abstract Seascape, The Sea by Carol Schiff, 6x8" SOLD

SOLD

Time for another little abstract painting.  The more I paint, the more I want to experiment with abstracts and mixed media.

I try to keep a limited palette and have a rough composition in mind.  From there, anything goes and I am always surprised by the outcome.

Many abstracts will  work in a landscape or portrait format.  I think this is one that does.  Do you have a preference?

Here is a fun thought I found of Facebook last week. Finish this sentence, "You know you're an artist when....".

I will start off with this...You know you're an artist when you hide all the "pretty fruit" from you family until you have finished your still life.

You know you're an artist when you constantly find yourself  covered with paint on the strangest body parts.

Missed The Boat by Kay Wyne

Missed the Boat
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
A trip to Maine gave me the inspiration to paint this small dinghy that was tied up in a fishing village.  I liked the rust and color changes on the metal, the textures in the rocks, and the variations in the water as it rippled across the rocks.  This small painting is available, and looks great framed up.  Contact Kay for more information.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Kay

Missed The Boat by Kay Wyne

Missed The Boat
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
An old dinghy tied up to a dock caught my eye when we were in a small fishing village in Maine.  I loved the old and weathered metal on the boat.  It was rusty and rough.  The water skimmed over the rocks leading up to the shore.  I used a palette knife to give the rocks and dinghy texture and depth.  This painting looks great framed up in a dark wood moulding.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting.  Thanks for looking...Kay
