'Wild And Free' By Irish Artist Maria Noonan-McDermott

'Wild And Free' was painted after a wonderful day strolling in a little secret vale along the magical Lough Melvin in Co.Leitrim.
I was seeping it all in and thinking, isn't this what life is all about!
We all have such busy lives, sometimes we just need to slow down and take time out to put things into perspective.

Cobalt Iris - Original Palette Knife painting by Nithya Swaminathan

This original painting is a part of my ongoing series of Irises, all done only with the palette knife. I love irises, and find that the knife is a fantastic tool to bring out the structure of the flower in detail. I like the effect of the veins that are created by the knife. Click here to see more irises on my blog.

'Kelly's Field' By Irish Artist Maria Noonan-McDermott

Hi Everyone

I'm delighted to be part of this new blog.
I'm really enjoying viewing all the amazing work by the various palette knife painters.
At the moment I'm spending a few days painting my studio rather than painting in my studio.
The weather is glorious here, which is unusual for the west of Ireland, so I'm taking full advantage.
I have decided to include a summer scene from one of my childhood haunts.

Original Irish Art By Maria Noonan-McDermott

'Among The Birches'
Original Oil Painting
By Maria Noonan-McDermott
50cm x 60cm

Maria has been painting for most of her life, her style is distinctly recognisable as she paints with knife, confidently applying layer upon layer, enhancing the quality of light and movement and allowing the texture of the paint to play a key role in the structure of her work.

Maria currently works from her studio in County Leitrim, Ireland.
