DECEMBER SONG FROM THE IDAHO STUDIO of CHARLEEN MARTIN

DECEMBER SONG

This is another Piece that I did using a Brayer, Palette Knife and Brush.  It's a fun technique to do because there is still an element of surprise (for me!) to the finished piece.

5 x 7" on Textured Wood Panel

Color My World by Kay Wyne

Color My World
14" x 10" Canvas on Panel
Contemporary Floral Landscape
This painting is drying at the studio.  I have two layers of paint on the panel, then lots of palette knife work.  I used impasto to get some texture on the smooth canvas.  The photograph may not show, but the clouds are thick, broad strokes of oils with the knife.  I will get this framed once it is dry...it needs to sit right now so that the paint won't get smudged up.  Feel free to contact ME for purchasing info.  Thanks for looking, Kay

Rejoicing Light, Layers of oil and texture, Modern Landscape by Janet Bludau

12 x 12
Oil on Canvas

This painting was created with many layers using brushes and palette knifes of different sizes. Layers were scraped back to reveal under paintings. It was a fun piece and one I could have kept working on forever - it is difficult to know when to stop!

"Approaching Carmel" Palette Knife, Abstract Landscape by Janet Bludau

14" x 18"
Oil on Canvas
Parts of my initial underpainting show through the top layer of paint.  In the final stages I added palette knife markings to the painting, further delineating the shape of different crop sections.  Central California provides many photos for my paintings.  I like the geometric shapes of the land and how it all fits together as a puzzle.  Besides the useful photos,  some of my favorite places to visit are in Central and Northern California.  Carmel is at the top of the list.  Carmel is known for its beautiful coast of course.  The countryside of the Carmel Valley is equally beautiful.

Valley Color, an Abstracted View of our California Farmlands by Janet Bludau

10" x 10"
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
$200 includes fast shipping
I recently took a long drive up the coast of California from my home and studio, to a gallery that was starting to show my paintings.  I love the shapes and colors that are created from the farmers creative ways of laying out their land.  I would actually like to speak to a few and hear how they make the decisions on what is to be planted to the north, south, etc.  Do they later check it out at a distance and appreciate the art they have created?

Abstract Landscape of Wine Country Lavender Fields by California Janet Bludau

12" x 12"
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
$300

I love all the "wine areas" in our wonderful state of California.
I have spent much time in Sonoma County, Napa County and also the Central Valley.
Along with wonderful wine, you find olive oil production, lavender fields that take your
breath away and beautiful old oak trees.
This painting titled "Sonoma" is one of my favorite new paintings I have done.
