WHITE ORCHIDS on DARK by OLGA WAGNER
This is based on another reference photo from the wetcanvas image gallery. Even though, I love Orchids and have couple plants, they are not in the best shape for being my muses. I definitely was not blessed with a green thumb...

Here I used Transparent Orange and a liner brush to do a quick sketch. It is very, very loose at this point..
Transparent under painting has been completed and I am starting to work with opaques to lay in the detail on the flowers.

White Floral Palette Knife Painting by Judy Mackey "I Miss You"
"I Miss You"
16" x 12" x 1.5", Oil on Canvas
Today is a quiet day. It's been raining quietly, hushing the usual day sounds, even the birds' chirping is muted. That is why the title seemed to linger in my thoughts. White flowers on a dark background. There are a lot of colors in the dark background from rich warm browns to blues and grays.

8" x 8" x 1.5", Oil on Canvas
We'd been cabin-fevered for 4 days...Inspsired by the snow and ice that has been gripping most of the U.S., this is another painting of the white hydrangea similar to the one I posted yesterday, this time with a light blue background.

Like everywhere else in the U.S., we're getting ice and snow. For my birthday in December, my friends bought me a selection of canvases of various sizes. This one is an 8 by 8 by 1.5 inches deep gallery wrapped canvas. I think the snow has influenced my choice of colors as I kept it soft and white.
