French Countryside Cottage by Karen Tarlton palette knife fine art impressionism

I love the gardens of the French countryside and since I can't travel right now I am spending time looking through old photos of past trips.

Water Lily Reflections, Giverney painting by Karen Tarlton palette knife impressionism

I just finished my Normandy, France trio and am delighted to finish them. It always cements my memories when I get them down in paint on canvas.
Monet's garden was particularly inspiring......so much color.

"Big White Flowers" is so fresh and bold. It feels free and full of sunshiny happiness to me.

Just like today ... we have another really beautiful and warm sunny day with clear skies. What ever happened to winter on the coast of Brittany this year I just don't know. I'm sitting here with a cool top on and a thin cardigan, with only one pair of socks to keep my toes warm. Crazy to be so toasty, without a heater on, in what is usually deepest coldest winter.

This painting is immediately downloadable as an image for you to print and you can find it here ... https://www.etsy.com/listing/684216819/big-white-flowers-instant-digital-image?ref=shop_home_active_1

I've also uploaded some room settings for you to see what it'll look like.

"Going Crab Fishing" by Lynda Cookson

"Going Crab fishing" was inspired by a lovely, large, gent who wandered past us as we were parked overlooking a small bay within Douarnenez Bay on the west coast of Brittany in France. His character, walk and equipment were so much larger than life that all surroundings seemed to fall away.

French Country Lavender painting by Karen Tarlton palette knife impressionism

 12x12
French Country Lavender

The above painting was inspired by my recent trip to Burgundy
region of France.
Such light there that you can't see in the photos but I display
in my painting and such a calm, peaceful place.
Lovely and plenty of wine and "proper" cheese with each meal :)

"Looking Out to Sea" by Lynda Cookson

This little painting is on show at Gallery 1608 in Bushmills, Northern Ireland.

We live 300 metres from a secluded bay on one of the peninsulas of Brittany's west-as-west-can-go coastline in France. On a balmy summer's day, during a walk at "our" bay, the inspiration for "Looking Out to Sea" was born. How I wish I was as slim and young as this young slip of a girl!! LOL

You can contact Gallery 1608 here : info@gallery1608.co.uk

"Near Najac, France" by Karla Nolan, watercolor painting (unmatted)

It was May of 2013, a very difficult time in life as my father had passed away.  We escaped to France.  May is poppy month and we were fortunate enough to be able to view the many coquelicot fields around this little village, Najac.  Seeing these happy hills of red soothed my shattered nerves a bit.  Looking back, I recall the emotions of losing a beloved person, those feelings never leave.  But France helped.

Countdown to France - Nancy Medina Art Classes and Workshops

French Escape ~ Romantic Kitty Series
by Nancy Medina
20X20
Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas

In 18 days, I'll be in Southern France at Le Vieux Couvent to teach my first French workshop! I'm a bit excited. I keep finding myself floating through rooms and spaces, imagining aperitifs, midnight church bells out my blue shuttered, open bedroom windows, creme brûlée, gelato, shopping in the ancient markets of Soulliac.... The dream come true bucket list just goes on and on!

I'm incredibly honored to be sharing this experience with students in two classes, back to back, and a fun little side trip to Paris right smack dab in the middle. Students from Ireland, Canada, Australia, and across the US are converging for the Great French Escape! I will share all my favorite photos with you on my Facebook fan page, so stay tuned, flower friends! My absolute fondest wish is that you will take this journey with me someday. My 2016 France dates are already set so check your dream come true wish list, this is the painting getaway you've always deserved!

A Few Important Things We Learned...in Italy!
