"Irish Cottage" by Lynda Cookson

Everyone has a soft spot for Ireland and you can still find quaint old thatched roof cottages like this one, set in beautiful flower gardens, in villages all around Ireland.
The link here is to an instant image download of "Irish Cottage" but the original is also available as it's just dry enough now to go into stock. Oil on stretched canvas.

Seaside Cottage and a St. Louis Workshop - Flower Painting Classes by Nancy Medina Art

This morning I received an email from LinkedIn suggesting I consider a job in architecture. This is about as close as I'll get to being an architect. Seaside Cottage is a painting of Le Vieux Couvent in Frayssinet, France, converted via my imagination to a seaside retreat. I had a palette knife teacher form Belgium who told us that there are no straight lines in nature! The little crooked roofs and cottage of France are a testament to that.

I'm very excited to announce a new workshop in St. Louis, Missouri, set for October 23-25. We'll paint bright flowers and French landscapes in my home town. You are invited to join me for three full days of painting, and students who work in oils, acrylics, and water based oils are welcome. I hope to see you there!

Blue Hearts Cottage - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

Blue Hearts Cottage is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, a little scene from Coronado Island, California. I took the liberty of adding two tiny carved hearts under the window, the Valentine's Day holiday lasts quite a while here, it seems. Just inside the entryway on the little carved table in the foyer you'll find a box of Godiva chocolates. I saved one of the truffles especially for you...if you hurry it might still be there!

Violet Verbena Cottage Path - Flower Paintings of California by Nancy Medina

Violet Verbena Cottage Path is one of the scenes from my collection of Coronado, California cottage paths. I took a little artistic license with the picket fence. In reality, it is pristine, straight, and in perfect condition. I prefer my fences a little more weathered looking in appearance, with interesting little crooked teeth at the top and gaps here and there. I can hardly wait until August, you are invited to tour these gardens with me in the evenings during my August workshop in San Diego, California. I hope to see you there! Read more...

Foxglove Lane Cottage Garden by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Foxglove Lane Cottage Garden is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, and is based on the gardens of Coronado Island, California. We toured this garden during my class there near San Diego a few weeks ago, and even though the air was chilly, the flowers were still in bloom on the rose arbor above. We were fortunate to bump into Juan Flores, the architect of Coronado flower gardens, and multiple blue ribbon award winner for the Coronado Flower Show. Juan loves to share his tips for growing the best flowers year round. Juan told us that he sometimes cannot sleep at night, he is so excited about his gardens, planning what he will plant and what colors he will grow in the coming season. Thanks so much Juan, for your generosity and your vision, you are truly an artist!
