3 New Long Paintings making their debut

Three new pieces making their debut at the Windsor Contemporary Art Fair last weekend. Here they are on the stand (Not a great photo but gives you an idea of their size, 120x40cm). I have yet to take proper individual photos and they are not up on my website yet.

It was interesting working in this long format. Your brain has to think different to get a good composition on a narrow long canvas. I found it very challenging (if you put the three together this would be my largest painting to date) but I loved painting this. When I thought I had finshed them, I hung them in the lounge so I could look at them before deciding if there was anything more needed. There was. The turquoise oil pastel did the trick and finished them off nicely.

Abstract Triptych, "Confetti" 5x15" Oil

Today, I am posting something new to me.....my first abstract triptych!  I really enjoyed working on this and hope to do more in the future.

110 + 12.50

I have not quite figured out how to photograph these yet...something I need to work on!

It is on three 5x5" gallery wrap canvases with the sides painted black.  Each piece is signed on the side.

It works in both a vertical or horizontal composition.

Here is a vertical view.

"Moonlight Mountain Triptych" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Quite a task, this painting on glass.  It took forever to compose and then execute but I'm very satisfied, happy, with the results.  The photos don't do it just but then this is the sort of artwork best seen in person, I guess.

"Moonlight Mountain Triptych",10"x22" painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $675 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click my blogspot button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

Abstracted Aspen Tree Paintings by Niki Gulley

"Natural Textures II" ©2013 Niki Gulley
24" x 24" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Bordering on the edge of abstraction and the cusp of realism, Natural Textures is loaded with layers and layers of paint, built up with thin glazes and then palette knife to create extreme dimension and depth.
Hang it alone, pair it with Natural Textures II to create a diptych,

or for a larger space, hang it with Natural Textures III to form a rhythmic triptych.

"Culmination" - Triptych painting by Niki Gulley

"Culmination" ©2011 Niki Gulley
Three 48" x 30" canvases to form a 48" x 90" triptych
textured mixed media on wrap around canvas

I decided it would be a fun challenge to create an extremely large painting, and I wanted the final piece to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives, I chose this water lily pond reference from our visit to my Monet's Gardens in Giverny, France. The grounds were breathtaking and I could actually see his paintings come to life. I was drawn to the energetic flow and yet calming serenity in this view, and I positioned the water lilies and my paint strokes in a circular pattern to add to that mood. The morning light peeking through the distant foliage added to a sense of mystery and promise that I wanted to capture in paint and share with you that feeling of hope.

I'll have this contemporary landscape painting in addition to more of my large scale oil paintings at the Cottonwood Art Festival, CottonwoodArtFestival.com, next weekend, Oct. 1st & 2nd from 9am - 6pm in Richardson, TX. Please stop by my booth to see them in person.

Or, if you would like to join us in May for our next ArtTrek to Paris, France, and paint Monet's Gardens in person, visit nikigulley.com/?page_id=1420, which goes into detail about our upcoming Plein Air Painting & Photography Workshops.

Three 48" x 30" canvases to form a 48" x 90" triptych
textured oil on wrap around canvas

I decided it would be a fun challenge to create an extremely large painting this winter, and I wanted the final piece to be very uplifting, colorful and full of energy. Opting for warm colors and working with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives, I chose this water scene for its energetic flow and yet calming serenity at the same time, and positioned the water lilies and my paint strokes in a circular pattern to enliven that mood.

Also available in limited edition stretched canvas prints.

I'll have this contemporary landscape painting in addition to other large scale oil paintings at the Watters Creek Art Festival, watters-creek.com/events/Fine-Arts-Festival-Sun.htm, this weekend in Allen, TX. Please stop by my booth, #60, to see them in person.

Back Bay Triptych #1 - Janet Bludau

This 6x6 on canvas board was painted in oil from a photo taken of the Newport Beach Back Bay.  My last post was of the Back Bay and my next two will be also.  Hopefully you won't be tired of my subject matter by then!  This painting and the 2 that will follow, are all going to be framed together in a horizontal frame, unless of course, you want to contact me in the meantime regarding purchasing just one of them!  I will be showing at the Balboa Island Art Walk on Sunday May 15th and will have the finished, framed, triptych hanging there.  I pick up the frame tomorrow and will see how it all looks.  I also have a very abstract, geometric landscape triptych that I am framing the same way.  However, these 3 6x6's are not done with a palette knife so you won't see them posted here.  You will have to go to my personal blog:
