Well it's already here - the season of color.

It's chilly today and the leaves are turning gold and already falling from the Mulberry and 

great Oaks in my backyard.

The Dogwoods in the front are turning crimson and getting ready to soon drop too.

Even the vineyards turn glorious colors in October and it's pure joy to see it!

Back Bay Triptych #3 - Janet Bludau

This is #3 of 3 and hopefully on Monday I will be able to post a photo of all 3 6x6's framed together.  I'm excited to see how it looks!  For those of you just joining the party, this is the Newport Beach, California Back Bay which connects to the Pacific.

Back Bay Triptych #2 - Janet Bludau

Now hopefully you remember from the last post of mine that this 6x6 is one of 3 that I am framing horizontally together.    I already posted #1 of the 3 and next time, yes, #3 will be posted!  When I get this all together I will even post the three of them together and framed if I can get a good shot on my camera.  These 3 little paintings are from photos of the Newport Beach Back Bay in California.

Back Bay Triptych #1 - Janet Bludau

This 6x6 on canvas board was painted in oil from a photo taken of the Newport Beach Back Bay.  My last post was of the Back Bay and my next two will be also.  Hopefully you won't be tired of my subject matter by then!  This painting and the 2 that will follow, are all going to be framed together in a horizontal frame, unless of course, you want to contact me in the meantime regarding purchasing just one of them!  I will be showing at the Balboa Island Art Walk on Sunday May 15th and will have the finished, framed, triptych hanging there.  I pick up the frame tomorrow and will see how it all looks.  I also have a very abstract, geometric landscape triptych that I am framing the same way.  However, these 3 6x6's are not done with a palette knife so you won't see them posted here.  You will have to go to my personal blog:

Back Bay Waters by Janet Bludau

This 8 x 8 oil on Board was painted from a photo I took while on one of my many Back Bay (Newport Beach, Ca.) walks.  Walk?  Hike?  What do you call it when you have a friend who, even though she has shorter legs than I do, is always a 1/2 stride ahead of me.  I go as FAST as I possibly can and she's always ahead........ Sorry - tangent.  The Back Bay is a beautiful place to paint also.  The colors are always changing depending on the time of day, time of year.  The mustard is just now blooming so I am going to have to remember my camera tomorrow.......

I took a short break for some water and a snack, and set up my easel again at the farm, up near the top of the hill, by the farm house. There is a wonderful view across the valley. At this point it's approaching mid-day, and I've found a bit of shade to shelter in while I paint this view. I really enjoyed being out in this open space, with long horizons so far away.
