Autumn Joy by Mairon Hedger

Autumn Joy
palette knife painting
by Marion Hedger
day 19 of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.
18x24cm, Oil on MDf Canvas panel
See all of the paintings so far

Over the weekend I took a couple of days out of the challenge to visit a sculpture park in Chateau la Coste vineyard, near Aix, about 2.5 hours drive away from home. The sculpture park was well worth the trip. Sculptures are placed all around the vineyard and the walk is about 2 hours long with a lot of up hill thrown in. It was very unusual and very well thought out. See here for details.

Blowing In The Wind by Kay Wyne

Blowing In The Wind
30" x 40" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Aspens - Palette Knife Painting
My painting for the paint challenge was a scraper.  Just didn't make the cut, so I am posting one of my contemporary aspen paintings.  I usually choose a square or vertical format for my aspens, but Blowing In The Wind is on a heavy duty (thick and chunky) horizontal stretcher bars.  I used bold colors, brushes and the palette knife.  The trees are thick and textured, as are the leaves that are falling.  This painting is for sale....contact Kay for purchasing information.  It is ready for a new home!  Thanks, Kay

My Arboretum workshops fill up fast, so don't delay, Megan and Joy are my hostesses and are absolutely wonderful. They've been known to pop in with a big bag of chocolate in the afternoon!

Mountain Laurel Aspen Path by Floral Artist Nancy Medina

Mountain Laurel Aspen Path
by Nancy Medina
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel

Mountain Laurel Aspen Path is the daily newbie in Flower Mound Studio and painting number 23 in the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge! I'm already just a wee bit worried about how I will keep up this momentum when I fly to Tennessee Thursday for four days of painting with students in Collierville. I'll be visiting some of my absolute favorite people, and their two little fluffy helpers, so I'll be extra busy having fun. Looks like I need to do a few paintings ahead of time, what do you think?

Aspen Painting

©1990-2013 Aspen Art by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

Summer in Aspen, or any other destination in Colorado, is a beautiful experience!  I have another trip to Crested Butte planned for this summer and I can't wait to photograph  the aspen trees, wildflowers, and spectacular mountain vistas.

My 36"x36" acrylic aspen tree palette knife painting, "Summer Path", hangs in the home of one my special collector's.  Although this painting is sold, it is available in a giclee on canvas or paper.  Please keep in mind that I love to paint commissions and I'd be happy to discuss such a venture with you.

"Fire and Gold" Contemporary birch oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Fire and Gold" ©2012 Niki Gulley
oil on canvas • 36" x 48"

I love the first signs of fall – the crisp feel in the air, the crunching of leaves underfoot, the beautiful autumn colors, and being totally immersed in nature in the middle of a forest without a care in the world. In Fire and Gold I wanted to recreate that joyful feeling, choosing warm reds and yellows of autumn and using energetic strokes with my paint to heighten that mood. Building up first thin transparent layers and then thick textured layers of oil paint also add to a certain glow and magic in the final piece.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information.
