Musing about my love for color this morning, I wrote these words,  "I wear the hues of this world in my soul and share them with others through my art".  

Inspired by the palette of Van Gogh, I've been rendering my new aspen paintings with a combination of blues and yellow/golds.  This little 9"x12" acrylic palette knife painting is titled, "Kebler Pass Aspen".

This 11"x14" acrylic palette knife painting is titled, "Eye Of The Beholder".   I rendered this aspen tree painting in exciting hues that dance within the texture.  My reference was an image I captured while on vacation in Crested Butte, Colorado.   We spent the entire week up on Kebler Pass where I was in heaven amongst these beautiful trees!

Summer in Aspen, or any other destination in Colorado, is a beautiful experience!  I have another trip to Crested Butte planned for this summer and I can't wait to photograph  the aspen trees, wildflowers, and spectacular mountain vistas.

My 36"x36" acrylic aspen tree palette knife painting, "Summer Path", hangs in the home of one my special collector's.  Although this painting is sold, it is available in a giclee on canvas or paper.  Please keep in mind that I love to paint commissions and I'd be happy to discuss such a venture with you.

Palette Knife Tree Painting

My original aspen tree palette knife painting, "Abundant Memories", is a 36"x48" acrylic painting on a wide border canvas, with the sides painted, eliminating the need for a frame. 

When I work on these large canvases, I first execute a warm under painting to give the entire canvas a glow that will translate through to the finished piece. In the daytime, my work is bold, vibrant and full of life. In the evening, it emanates a warm glow, creating an ambient focal point for the room.

This piece was inspired from a photograph that I took when I was in Taos, New Mexico. I came across a pocket of light that was brilliantly streaming through the woods and reflecting in the water before me. I decided to render this with thick paint, and a palette knife. If there's just a small amount of light in the room, this painting radiates a warm glow.
