Baby Alpaca....Palette Knife painting by Peg Whitacre
When I received an inviation to visit an alpaca farm I had no idea what a treat was in store! Although they are a bit strange in appearance they are definitely some of the cutest animals I have ever seen. They are very friendly and extremely clean, and come in browns, blacks and white. Momma Alpaca is very watchful of her babies and white getting the photograph that was the basis for this painting, I was being watched very carefully by the mother. In this pack there was also a male llama who acted as a guardian for the alpaca herd along with two very large white pyrenees who, together, keep the peace and make sure no predators get too close. It was a morning that was absolutely delightful and educational as well. Hopefully, one of these days I will do a few more paintings of these characters. Because it was late fall, this little guy had a blanket wrapped around him to keep him snug and warm. Enjoy!

Careers in music, education and photography led me into the world of oil painting, which is a "daily" challenge to me.
