Cheetah Portrait....Pakette Knife Painting by Peg Whitacre
Getting good photographs of exotic animals is not always easy. Zoos and refuges are good places to try and this painting was based on a close-up photo I was fortunate enough to capture. Unfortunately, the eyes in the photograph were too dark making it impossible to use as a photo....but....it sure made good source material for a painting. Everything except the eyes was done with the palette knife and it has such great texture. The painting is 20x20 making this the largest work I have ever tried solely with a knife. It was great fun and the end result is lots of texture along with a great close-up. It is available directly from the artist. Contact at pwhitacre@att.net. Enjoy!

Careers in music, education and photography led me into the world of oil painting, which is a "daily" challenge to me.
