In The Garden By Deborah Harold

This lovely backyard in LA was from a photograph a friend gave me
after visiting her friend. She told me the yard looks like a painting of mine.
I was flattered and thrilled to have new material to paint.
In the Garden is an original 6x6 palette knife oil on artisan Panel.
Thank you Julie!

Landscape River Painting by Jill Saur

Fresh off the easel!  I am calling this 11"x14" acrylic on wide border canvas, "Radiant Destination". It was inspired by one of my haunts down at the Chattahoochee River, here in Roswell, GA.  The warm undertones shine through and this painting just glows in any light.

Sunlit Palms - Janet Bludau

6" x 12"
Oil on Board
Sold

I had the most wonderful day selling art!  A group of us were invited to show our work at our local farmer's market for the first time.  We were surrounded by fresh, beautiful produce and colorful flowers.  The weather was wonderful, people I met interesting and fun and I was very happy with sales - A Great Day!  I don't think I ever posted this painting but will now just as a show and tell even though it sold today.  The colors are very bright as you can see - a fun piece to paint.

Laguna Beach By Deborah Harold

Main Beach in Laguna is a beautiful spot and an artist's delight.
This study of the famed beach was a blast to paint!
The piece is loose and depicts the loose vibe that is so present everywhere.

BULL in PALETTE KNIFE by OLGA WAGNER

As promised, I got to work on Mr. Bull. I LOVE the way he came out. The colors and textures pop on this MAN.

Pugsley is still a very sick little boy. His white blood count was pretty high and he feels pretty rotten - most likely due to the inflammation of his pancreas . He has been at the vets two days in a row now...At least he likes to travel in the car - he goes into a relaxation trance as soon as the car starts moving - it's weird, but kind of cool!

A Good Morning by Pamela Blaies

Green Bottle with Lavender
20" x 16"
Oil on Canvas

I had a great morning. With all the shadows and light play in this piece, it was fun to create. Simple design with warm, neutral colors gives a very soothing feel, yet the green bottle and lavender stems add fun, energizing color.

Aspen Tree Painting "Promising Journey" by Jill Saur

My love for aspens is apparent in this 16"x20" acrylic on canvas painting.  One only has to spend a small amount of time among these trees to be captivated, mesmerized, and come away changed.  This original painting is sold but I offer it in a limited edition, hand-embelllished giclee.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that uplifts and inspires your soul.

Seagulls are such opportunists. I was sitting on the beach yesterday reading my book and noticed a group of seagulls checking out an abandoned beach bag. They circled it for a while before one of the gulls worked up his nerve and dove into the beach bag. Immediately, he pulled out a bag of chips and flew a few feet away with them. (I think they have done this before!) At that point another gull challenged him and gained control of the goodies. He proceeded to tear open the bag and eat his fill while the other gulls stood around like his security detail and watched for the owner of the chips to come back. Funny little birds!

A Gift from the Heart by Pamela Blaies

Red Poppies on the Beach
24" x 30"
Oil on Canvas

Red Poppies on the Beach just recently sold. It was purchased as a birthday gift from a very thoughtful and generous person to his love. She had mentioned to him how much she loved the painting, so he searched the internet to find and contact me privately. He wanted to present it to her on her birthday as a complete surprise. He told me that she was so touched and surprised upon the unveiling that tears of joy sprang to her eyes. I felt honored to be a part of such a loving moment.

Oil painting antique jeep by Becky JOY

Jeepers 6x6 oil on canvas panel $150. Click here to purchase
I saw this old jeep around Taos (a great place for old vehicles). It was on someone's property and not a very good view from the road. No one was home, so I did a little trespassing to get a photo of it. I'm not sure what the original color was, because it seemed like it was multicolored with just that little bit of red on the fender. I love painting the old patinas on the vehicles that have weathered. Fun stuff to paint. No shiny cars for me.
Getting ready for my trip to Oregon and plein air painting on the gorge. Really a great place, can't wait. Time to start setting things aside for my trip now. Talk to you all later.

Zinnias of August by Roxanne Steed

10"x8" oil on Belgian linen mounted on archival panel

"Flowers seem intended for the solace of ordinary humanity." ~John Ruskin

After two solid days of non-stop rain it felt so great to be out painting in the garden again! My husband started these zinnias in the yard this year, and they are doing so well! Almost waist high and such a nice variety of pinks, magentas, & cream. The hummingbirds love them, too! Which reminds me.....I haven't mentioned yet that we have 'BABIES'!!!! Little baby hummingbirds! They are half the size of the adult birds. The little ones were staying close to the butterfly bushes - I'm wondering if there was a nest in there! There is something truly delightful when you take the time to paint out in nature. You notice the things that you might not (probably not) have noticed if you were quickly just taking photos. I'm hoping to develop that out-door memory, so that when I am back in my studio again (especially over winter) I have lots of these outdoor memories and smaller paintings to develop larger ones from!

This painting is available directly from my DailyPainter.com gallery store.

TABBY CAT ON RED by OLGA WAGNER

I love the way that the color scheme makes this painting sing. The original photo was pretty bad, but perfect as inspiration.

Update on my sweet little Pugsley. He was a very good boy during his acupuncture treatment and seemed to be feeling much better following it. He even met me at the door when I got home this evening, which he has not done since he got so ill. I attached some photos of Pugsley sporting Porcupine Look.

Sunset and Road Daily Oil Painting by BECKY JOY

Late Day Sun 6x6" oil $150. click here to purchase.
Hi all,
It's been a full day for me. I started my day with working at the repo house that we have. Last week we (or Mike) tore off three room that had been added onto the house. We are trying to get it back to the original block house. So, this morning Iwas the picker-upper. We have lots of bulk trash. In Phoenix the city picks up the bulk trash every three months. It's time in the neighborhood. So, I've been picking up and piling garbage. I figure its something constructive and better exercise than the treadmill. It certainly feels like it.
I came home at about 10 am and started my office work day. I had plenty of emails, computer and phone calls to make. After lunch I was finally ready to paint. I painted this little 6x6 sunset. My inspiration for the painting was a sunset that we had about two nights ago with that beautiful orange color in the sky with the variety of violets. I used a photo of a road that I had for the composition of the painting combining with the colors of the sunset.
I took some photos showing the progression of the painting that I have posted on my website Art Workshops Online. I started this new website dedicated to education and information in the arts. The website isn't done yet, but is up and running (kind of limping). I will be having some guest posts from other artists and tutorials with eventually workshops. For this painting, I have posted step by step photos with explanation. Check it out, but remember, the website will have a new, professional look in a couple of weeks. Click here to see the painting progression.
Oh, and then this afternoon I went over to the house to work a couple of more hours into the evening. This time of year we work mostly in the morning and then evening avoiding the midday sun.
Talk to you all later.
Becky

COW GONE WRONG AND PUGLSEY UPDATE

COW gone wrong...or should I say Bull gone wrong...I am stressed and it shows...I started this bull with brushes - then after getting a "bit" unhappy with it's progress, I scraped most of it of and started slapping paint on it with the same palette knife used for scraping...Somehow I scraped of his horns and never put them back - thus we have a COW!

I still really love the original photo and will need to try my hand at a more realistic painting of the gentleman.

Pugsley is still very much under the weather. I did get home early enough today to take him into the backyard to enjoy some sun and fresh air. He really seemed to enjoy watching all the crazy hummingbirds that are visiting our feeders. Tomorrow he will visit the vet for an acupuncture session - If I remember I will bring a camera to take some shots of the porcupine-pugsley!

Catalina Island

Just off the coast of Southern California lies a very charming island.
This is a playground for boating enthusiasts as well as tourists.
It is charming, old California feeling and is a great get-a-way for a day or
a weekend. This 6x6 palette knife is a painting of Catalina Island at it's most peaceful.
