REFLECTION OF PEAR AND ORANGES in ACRYLICS by OLGA WAGNER

This one was painted in response to the January Challenge from the DPIAG Blog. The title of the challenge was "Reflections" - Entries will be posted on January 15th. This bad boy was done with acrylics on a highly textures canvas. I wish there was a good way to capture the 3D texture and depth of the various layers of color. Seems like I could benefit from photography classes!

Moving on to the red palette and as always shooting for color and drama... I am getting ready for a Group Show in January at the Local Color Gallery in Raleigh. As promised, I got to work on Mr. Bull. I LOVE the way he came out. The colors and textures pop on this MAN.

Pugsley is still a very sick little boy. His white blood count was pretty high and he feels pretty rotten - most likely due to the inflammation of his pancreas . He has been at the vets two days in a row now...At least he likes to travel in the car - he goes into a relaxation trance as soon as the car starts moving - it's weird, but kind of cool!

This is a larger painting for me.

Treasure Hunt - Original Abstract in Palette Knife by Nithya Swaminathan

My style has always been realism/loose realism but I had this sudden urge to try an abstract and this was the result. This painting is a departure from my usual style, and the first one that I painted with no reference at all. It was fun starting with something in mind and adapting as it progressed, because it was evolving to something else. I loved that factor of suspense that the abstract brought in.
