It's been a while since I've blogged and I'm out of practice but I feel I need to.  This is a painting I did last year from a photo.  The photo featured different colored flowers but that's where a bit of artistic license takes over.

 I finally got a good photo of my new painting, Storm Horizon Peonies. It's hard to photograph the large ones without good natural lighting.

I went canvas shopping today, it's the best canvas sale of the year at Aaron Brothers here in North Texas, buy one get 2 free. This sale puts their buy one, get one for a penny sale - to shame! So I stocked up with about $400 worth! I put my Audible book on tape (Mr. Churchill's Secretary, an excellent mystery) on and gessoed canvases all day long today. Bliss!

Confetti Pink Peonies is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio and I have a confession to make. I went back to the market today for more peonies. Don't get me wrong, the batch I bought a few days ago is still hanging in there, bravely, under the heat lamps and spotlights. But I just couldn't resist having some colorful backup singers for an encore! Hopefully, if I cross my fingers and toes, these will last for a few more days of painting sessions!

I went to the market today for lemons and cheese and came home with peonies, sunflowers, larkspur, and lilies. I really should not be allowed in the grocery store without adult supervision. What a surprise to find fresh peonies in Texas in July! And what a surprise to come home from my St. Louis workshop to find it's been raining in Flower Mound for days! When the pilot announced the temperature in Dallas as we landed yesterday, folks could be heard muttering...."70 degrees? that can't be right...I hope he is landing us in the right state...."

I have so many wonderful photos to share with you from my trip to teach in my hometown last week. You can see some very lovely workshop attendees on my art blog today. You'll notice one in particular has fur, and extremely elegant posture. Shasta the Studio Kitty was exceptionally helpful, coming in about once a day to meow hello and request pettings, and always willing to lend a paw at the lunch buffet. This my dears, is a kitty with a job! Howard Pee Pugpants, take a note!

Once in awhile I feel like pretty in pink and go to my girly feminine side when I paint.  I hope it brings a smile!
