Smell The Flowers - Sold - By Kay Wyne

Smell The Flowers
Sold
This small palette knife painting sold yesterday at the Dutch Art Gallery's 50th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Artist's Reception.  Lots of collectors came out to see the show, meet the artists and enjoy the live music, food and drinks.    It was good to see old friends and then meet new ones.  Congratulations to gallery owners Pam and Hans Massar for fifty years of representing artists and custom framing.  Thanks to collector Lew Ann for purchasing this painting...I had the opportunity to visit with her, as she has several of my paintings.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Kay

Lost by Kay Wyne

Lost
16" x 12" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Floral Landscape Series
When I look at this painting, I get lost...my eyes see a field, then puddles of water fading back into the horizon.  There is texture on the surface of the canvas where the paint is built up.  The colors that I mixed up are soft and earthy.  This painting is ready to hang...contact Kay for purchasing info.  Thanks, KMW

Soaking Up Sunshine by Kay Wyne

Soaking Up Sunshine
14" x 14" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life
Thick paint applied with a new wide brush made this painting so much fun to paint.  Up until the last few strokes, the vase was square in shape, but with the background window pains, I though it was all too angular.  So I changed it up.  The 14" x 14" canvas size is a nice medium size---you wouldn't think that there is much difference between a 12" x 12" and this size...but there is a huge difference.  This contemporary still life is colorful, bold, and happy.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing info.  Thanks for looking at the art posted on this blog.  KAY

Jar of Petals by Kay Wyne

Jar of Petals
10" x 10" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Oil Painting
My color palette is very vibrant in this painting....which I just completed in the studio.  It is too hot to paint outside in Texas under the hot July sun.  I had fun with this one....I wanted all of the flowers to sing with color.  Here is a pic of my palette that I was working from.
There is more brushwork than palette knife on this panel.  I wanted my colors to be bright, vivid and intense.  This painting will be drying in the studio, then I will frame.  Contact ME if you have any comments or have an interest in purchasing.  Thanks for looking....Kay Wyne

Bountiful by Kay Wyne

Bountiful
36" x 60" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Painting
Starting with a photograph of John's roses, I quickly added some other flowers to the canvas.  This painting is bold, colorful and graphic.  It has brushstrokes that you can see, along with palette knife work, both creating lots of texture.  This painting is hanging at the studio drying, and while I may make some minor changes, it is completed.  The thick paint will take a while to dry, and then I will need to varnish.  The sides of the canvas are painted black, and a frame is optional.  Thanks for looking at Bountiful,  Contact Kay for more information on this contemporary floral.  Kay

Impulsive by Kay Wyne

Impulsive
18" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Landscape
Color, texture, and movement are found in this contemporary palette knife painting.  I used brushes, palette knives and a sculpting tool to achieve this abstract look.  I actually started with a painting underneath...one that I wasn't happy with.  So when scraping through the top layer of oils the colors from the first painting show through.  This painting is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Kay

On my easel by Kay Wyne

This painting is on my easel...
I started with a 36" x 60" gallery wrap canvas.
Here are a few pics of the progress.
I usually work on a tinted canvas but wanted to do something different,
so I went with a black background on the canvas.
Then I had a few shapes sketched in very loose and abstract using chalk.
I couldn't wait to get into the paints and get color on the canvas.
I used a wide flat brush, and mixed piles of corals, pinks, magentas and violets.
I was using this photograph of a rose from our front yard planter...John's got a wonderful green thumb.  I especially liked the rose buds surrounding the flowering rose.
I realized that the rose on the left of the canvas was getting out of control and too large, so I used the palette knife and started scraping and re-shapping the petals.  This is where I stopped....I can't wait to get back into the studio and tackle this canvas.  I plan to add another large flower to balance out the composition.
Thanks for looking at this blog...Kay

Untitled Floral by Kay Wyne

Untitled
Floral Bouquet
12" x 12" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
This is one of my new contemporary floral still life paintings that is drying at the studio.  It has beautiful violets, muted whites, greys and olive greens in thick layers of oils.  The background has shades of pink, lavendar and greys that were brushed on and blended.  This painting would look great framed up and hung in  a bedroom or living area.  Contact ME for more info on this painting.  Thanks for looking!

Impulsive by Kay Wyne

Implusive
18" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Abstract Landscape
Lots of color, paint and line going on with this canvas.  The vivd colors bounce off of each other and make the unusual color combinations interesting.  There are lines and shapes scraped into the thick paint.  Sculpting tools, palette knives and brushes were my tools of choice.  I used plenty of impasto so that the paint would dry and have lots of body.  This painting is hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Kay

Today's Bouquet by Kay Wyne

Today's Bouquet
12" x 12" Oil on RayMar Cotton Panel
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
Today's Bouquet was going to be a cow, but I wasn't in the mood for any animals.  I think I had the current exhibit of French Still-Life paintings at the Dallas Museum of Art on my mind.  I went to see it this week, so after looking at a show of that magnitude, it put me in the mood for a still-life in the studio.  I picked my color palette, but did not put any impasto out so I am sure that it will take a long time to dry.  After looking at for a few days I may need to put a few strokes.  I used my palette knife all the way, then dropped it on the floor and messed up the tip.  Good thing I have dozens of knives...more painting tomorrow.  Thanks for looking at this blog.  Contact ME if you would like to purchase.  Kay

Wildflower Vista by Kay Wyne

Wildflower Vista
24" x 24" Oil on Canvas
Contemporary Wildflower Landscape Painting
This painting has been in the works for several weeks, and I can now say I am finished!  I wanted the foreground to be overgrown, thick with color and texture on the wildflowers.  I wanted to create a scene that appeared to be untouched, beautiful and dreamy.  The viewer can see the path of wildflowers as they trail off into the horizon, fading into the sky.  I started with a photograph that I had taken several years ago as inspiration, but took my artistic license and created this colorful landscape vista.  Contact Kay for more information on this painting...it is in the studio drying.  It does need a frame!  Thanks, Kay

SUNFLOWER AND DAISY PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

These flowers are from my back yard. We have a bunch of sunflowers this year - all due to us starting to use more birdseed containing black sunflowers seeds. Maybe next year I will try and plant them on purpose.

MIXED BOUQUET
12" x 12"  -  Oil on Panel

Available 325
www.olgawagner.com

Here is a partial shot of my background. This year we have been lucky and got a bunch of spring rain and sun, which made everything bloom extra gorgeous!

Here are couple of new painting ideas.  The horse might be next!
