Fall Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, One Last Autumn Painting, 6x8" Oil on Canvas

I know, I know!  By now, you are sick and tired of hearing me go on about fall in the mountains!  I promise, this is my last little autumn painting.

Purchase Here

I am trying to bring additional color, and different color into my art.  This time of year is perfect!  I tend to be a cool hue kind of girl, so inspiration is easy with fall colors everywhere.

Hmmmm!  I think I could become fond of the "other" side of the color wheel.  In any case, change is always a good thing.

I've had an exhausting two months.  We left for our 2nd home in North Carolina the end of August, and returned home to Florida Nov.1  I had 12 hours at home, before I left for 5 wonderful days in a workshop with the fabulous painter, Elio Camacho.  Pure Heaven!

Elio is a charming and knowledgeable instructor and gives all his students an incredible amount of information and attention.  I am looking forward to his next series of Florida workshops in the spring.

Thanks for viewing my blog today.

Autumn Explosion oil painting by Marion Hedger

Autumn Explosion by Marion Hedger
Oil on canvas panel
Heavily textured palette knife painting
18x24 cm (approx 7"x10")
Featured in the January Selection on PaintersOnline

Available in my Etsy Shop HERE
When painting forest scenes, I usually like to show some sort of path to encourage the viewer to 'walk' through the painting, as can be seen HERE in this larger painting. With Autumn Explosion, I wanted to show the 'denseness' of the foliage and the way that the colour can confuse the senses.
Here is a close up of the impasto knife work

Niki Gulley featured at American Fine Art - this Saturday

"Seasons of Change" ©2012 Niki Gulley
30" x 30" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

With "Seasons of Change," I wanted to focus on brilliant color and simple shapes to see if I could communicate the excitement I feel when surrounded by nature. Using energetic diagonal strokes and thick, textured paint, I hope you get a sense of the motion in the leaves and the power of nature to invigorate your spirit. I just love how this piece captured that essence!

To see "Seasons of Change" and more of Niki Gulley's textured landscape paintings, visit American Fine Art Gallery in Dallas, (American Fine Art.)

Gulley will be the featured artist this month, and on April 21st the gallery will host a reception with the artist as part of Dallas' Spring Gallery Walk. She will be there from 6-8 pm and will be available to talk about her new work and answer any questions. American Fine Art will be unveiling more than a dozen of my her new large textured oil paintings, with subjects ranging from aspen and birch trees, to uplifting sunflower fields to peaceful water lily scenes.
