"Lion Around" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn

I couldn't be happier with this guy--love the looseness and the visible brushstrokes. He was painted on a black gessoed canvas, with bits of black showing through.

"Three Babies" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn

We have been so in awe of nature at work with this awesome nest and three baby robins. All of us especially love watching the mother and father bring in the worms. We have been trying to figure out how they know who to give the next worm to... The strongest, or the hungriest? Sure would be interesting to track it!

Anyway, three babies in one nest--wow. Can some of you relate?

Elephant in Grays Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn

I have been on an elephant and octopus kick, painting larger again too. Just when I think I've found my niche, I'm off in another direction! Just enjoying the ride!

This one was painted on a black gessoed canvas, like most things I've been doing lately. Nice and loose with fun bits of the black peeking through.

"Wild Strawberries" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn

It is with pure anticipation that I paint these strawberries. I enjoyed painting this first one so much, but definitely have not gotten it out of my system yet! More to come. :)

"Sphinx Hummingbird Moths" Original Oil Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

This is the second time I've painted this amazing memory, this time with brush. Two summers ago the hummingbird moths were all over our zinnias. We would sit and watch them and I was able to capture about 20 photos, tough to do since they move so fast!

"Coneflowers" Original Oil Paintings by Hallie Kohn Art

Coneflowers are definitely one of my favorite perennials. The striking combination of oranges and pinks make them really stand out in a garden. I love how they seem to bloom for so long, and when they seed the goldfinches just sit on top like the flower head is a little table.

"Golden Dome of Notre Dame" Oil Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

A few months ago a friend of my husband suggested that I paint the dome of Notre Dame. I just remember thinking there was No Way I would be able to achieve that with the knife. Still, I drew it out on a panel, then hid it away in a drawer.

I woke up thinking about that panel this past week, so thought it was about time I give it a try. There has to be a first time for everything, right? Let me know what you think of it!

Original Hydrangeas Palette Knife Painting by Hallie Kohn Art

A few months ago I never would have attempted to paint hydrangeas! I went into this painting trying my very best to be loose... Just know I did have to scrape off the first four smaller flowers and repaint them as my brain wanted to paint every petal! I'm really happy with the entire process though and thrilled with the way it turned out. Hope you like it!
