Wildlife Painting, Alligator Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8" Original Art

These guys are not uncommon sights in Florida.  Sometimes you see them snoozing in the sun next to a road.  Golfer's here usually have a scary encounter to tell.

SOLD
This was my third attempt to paint this fellow.  I had difficulty getting the drawing correct, as well as the color.  The image I worked from was not exciting. Eventually, I think I worked it out.

Go gators!

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Florida Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Tropical Painting, 5x7" Oil Landscape

I guess I am a typical artist.  By that, I mean unorganized!

I just found this little painting in the back of my inventory closet.  I must have painted it 6 or 7 years ago!

Purchase here

I always wondered why it didn't sell!

I sit here tonight (Sept 10) listening to the wind howl, the rain pounding, a huge tree down in our yard and another of about 19 tornado warnings on our weather radio going off.  Hurricane Irma has been beating us up all day, with the worse to come about 2:00 a.m.

Trying to do blog posts to distract from the fury outside.

On the bright side, for the time being, we still have power.  The lights flicker, but so far, they have come back on.  That's a biggy!  When we lose power in a hurricane, it usually takes close to a week to get it back.  A long hot, humid week!!

Thanks for reading my blog.

 Great Horned Owl
5" x 7" oil on panel

Great Horned Owls are native to Newfoundland but not often seen.  Their colouring is a perfect match for their environment of spruce trees making them blend in beautifully.   These are glorious birds and powerful  hunters as I found out when one attacked my ducks in a meadow pen a few years ago. You can read more about that day on my blog and see some photos of the owl.

My Waifs & Strays sale of original art continues until January 31st.   Free shipping on most pieces within North America!

You can find more of my work on my website Jeanette Jobson Fine Art, my blog, Illustrated Life and on Facebook and Twitter.

Roseate Spoonbill - Florida Bird Painting - Nancy Medina Art

http://nancymedina.fineartstudioonline.com/workszoom/1641354

 Florida Spoonbill Painting
by Nancy Medina
16X20
Oil on Linen

I've been wanting to paint a Spoonbill for some time, mainly because they are beautiful birds, and they are pink! Since I'm heading to Florida very soon to teach, it seemed a good time to unveil my Roseate fellow. Upon closer inspection, with his spoon shaped nose, perhaps he is does not cut the elegant silhouette of the Blue Heron, but I still find him very appealing, with his lemon yellow face paint and his scarlet feathers. Wouldn't it be kismet if I were to actually see one of these fellows during my visit? If so, you'll be the first to hear about it!

Daily Painting| Wildlife Art | Bird Painting| Small Oil Painting | The Hunt by Carol Schiff 8x10" Oil

We spent a few days on Sanibel recently.  It is such a lovely experience, like living in the middle of a nature preserve.

I ran into this guy on an early morning walk.  He was under the causeway and all business.

It was only a matter of minutes before he had his breakfast.

It must have been a favorite fishing spot in the area, because he was surrounded by lazy pelicans (they were watching, not working) and several fishermen in boats.  None of this seem to bother him.

Ariel ~ Koi Pond Commission by Nancy Medina

Ariel - Detail from Koi Garden Commission

18X24
Oil on Archival Panel

Ariel is a lovely lady whose mom must move away soon. I was commissioned to paint Ariel's koi garden as a gift from the family, and the painting is in progress in Flower Mound Studio this week. I incorporated green shadows into her golden tones, to change temperature in shadow areas, and pushed highlights into more pure colors where the light was striking. There is nothing better than receiving a commission from someone whose photographs are professional quality, and the images I was given to work from are stellar. What a treat it has been to dip into the deeps with golds and nature's beauty in water this week! Stay tuned to my art blog ~ I will be posting this entire painting step by step as soon as it is concluded, in just a few days.

The Elephant - Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton

The Elephant
16x20
Oil
The Elephant is a majestic, beautiful, intelligent animal so I thought he was worthy of at least one portrait.
Abstract and a bit whimsical but the eyes are always what captures the spirit and so are the most fun to paint!
The paint is super thick on this original so it took quite some time to dry and is finally ready to list.
Good news! My work can now be found in two new forms.

I found this reference photo on wetcanvas a while ago and finally last night, while looking for something fun and bright to paint, I took it out and voila! bright and contemporary painting was born!

I did not take any photos of the intemediate steps, sorry... The flash was totally distorting the colors.
