On The Lamb, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

On The Lamb

Here is the final on this painting. You can see I pulled in some soft oranges in the sky  contrasting with the blues. The reds are strong in the center of the painting contrasting the next layer of green sliding across in the lower middle area and the bottom is a combo of white, grey red and blue. It is a strong piece with very thick layers of paint.  Email Kim at Robert Kelly if you are interested in this painting.

Here are some close up images below.

May your weekend be filled with FUN... laughter and new memories.

Praise the Lord.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;

Horse 48 Uneasy Ride Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 48 Uneasy Ride
 Size:8 x 8  Oil on Canvas Panel.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Raw paint. Uneasy edges. Patterns of paint colliding together weaving into the surface of this panel. It is there among the texture.  A horse painting emerges... easily but with the flow of paint, I entitled it 'uneasy ride'.

First time painters initially struggle to bring content and paint to the canvas. With each day they gain confidence and strength in working with their oils. The biggest hurdle is not to copy or use an image (photo or painting) of another artist.  When you realize as a painter that the surface of that canvas holds unlimited ideas, you have arrived. This blank canvas holds the surface of a new world, a new creation... a new painting.

If painting becomes a struggle and not an adventure, it is time to change your perspective. Walk away from whatever is limiting you. You have imposed 'conditions' on yourself and it is time to paint in a new light. When you allow yourself this freedom unexpected worlds open up to you. The journey on the canvas becomes joyful and feels like something you have waited for a long time.

"You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forward I make you hear new things, hidden things that you have not known. Isaiah 48:8

Horse Painting 41 Sun Breaking through the Rain by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse Painting 41
Sun Breaking through the Rain
8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas Panel.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Colors were fun in this painted pony.  I actually got stuck working on it with the ice green I was using. There are not many colors that work well with it but the final result was stunning in person. Not sure this photograph does it justice.

Our anniversary is this weekend coming up... still trying to decide what to do since he is all casted up and unable to do much with his right hand.  Morgan and Kelly have their anniversary this weekend as well.  I thought about dinner at the Classic Cafe in Roanoke.  We did that last year and had a wonderful time.  Cannot really travel well like Terry is right now.  More about our anniversary on Sunday... that is the special day.  My brain is in overdrive thinking of things to do to make it special.

This man has been an inspiration to me, allowing me to stop teaching full time and be an artist full time.  We dropped a full time teaching salary from our income and yes, it took about two years before I had enough coming in to make it back up.  That was back in 1998. I fell in love with him back in the fall of 1964... knew him the year before, but it took a year of knowing him to know he was the 'him' I wanted to spend my life with. We were in seventh grade.  We are still good friends with most of our 'group' from way back then and feel really blessed.

The God of peace be with you all. Romans 15:33

Color Rising, Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Color Rising
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

A beautiful new painted pony piece for a friend in San Francisco to decorate her new law office.  She asked for the feminine colors and I think I delivered it in this contemporary horse painting.

With some deep thought and a lot of prayer, I may be not be blogging daily.  I can only believe you get tired of getting my emails daily and seeing either older pieces or old thoughts even at times.

With the job of editor of Visual Language Magazine I stay pretty involved on the computer with many artists daily. I am working this spring to be back in the studio more and bring to you NEW work and new pieces and new ideas for art.  If there is anything you would like to see me paint, please email me by clicking HERE, or going to my website and use the CONTACT ME page.

I want to celebrate you this year and try to give back more to my collectors, so you will have to check in occasionally for give aways. Books, paintings and more.

From Gary Mueller, a Methodist Minister on Facebook is posted a comment from last Friday. I have to stop focusing on the struggle of making it all work and focus on what is working and the gifts I have and want to share.

“God Really Does Change Your Life!”
by Gary Mueller

Something destructive happens when you choose to focus on what you don’t have – the right job, the house you want, the car of your dreams or enough money in the bank. Something wonderful happens when you focus on what you do have - even in the midst of real struggles in your life. When you focus on what you don’t have, you quickly develop an attitude of entitlement. This inevitably makes you more and more self-centered, which takes you away from God. However, when you focus on what you do have, you begin to experience overwhelming gratitude. This makes you more and more God-centered, which takes you into a ever-deeper relationship with God. The irony, of course, is that the more you make it all about you, the more you struggle. While, the more you make it about God, the better off you are. Confused? Well that’s exactly why it’s important to remember that God really does change your life! #GodNMe

BTW... Happy Birthday to my youngest son... he is one of my greatest gifts from God.  Hope to see him more in the studio this year too.

Examining the Flow of the contemporary horse painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Progress... time to examine the Flow
4 x 6 Feet Oil on Canvas. SOLD

With the power in the bottom half of the painting I know I will be reworking the top half or the part you see from the light purple top left over to the darkening streaks behind the rider in this contemporary Horse Painting. I will probably take the images into photoshop to see direction before layering again with my knife.

Day Four Reverence to the Sun Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Reverence to the Sun
30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

This horse painting is truly weaving together a very strong presence on this canvas. Brilliant colors blending and mixing with the layering of paint.

I am smiling with the joy that seems to come from the surface as I imagine this great horse stopping to bow his head to the brilliance of the morning sun over the Rockies.

"And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.

From now on all generations will call me blessed,
for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
    holy is his name.

His mercy extends to those who fear him,
 from generation to generation.

He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.

He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped his servant Israel,
    remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.” "  Luke 1:46-55

Reverence to the Sun, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Reverence to the Sun
30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

I get excited when the layering truly begins to define the horse and the spirit of the horse. The paints always mix together differently and the flow of energy varies with the climate outside the studio... God's influence always constant with every stroke of the knife. Spreading from the face through the powerful neck. The collector wanted defined muscles and movement with the stillness. I am not sure of the title, but this is what seems to feel like it fits, Reverence to the Sun.

Sometimes the spirit just overtakes us in life and we burst forth with song or exclamations of thanks... Have you felt that this Holy Season? Usually I am breaking out in song and praising Him as I do. Even at the mall today with Lady L, choirs were performing Christmas carols and hymns and we were singing along.

In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!  Luke 1:42

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Single Joy
9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

The ninth day painting was another one painted 10 days ago in front of the fire. Perhaps that is how the sky ended up so red... it was warm and cozy and my dog was at my feet. Another 'fun' painting to unwind that weekend. Too cold to walk and too cold and wet to leave the house.

*Remember the winners will be chosen AFTER two days because the blog comes out on one day but it is emailed the next to my subscribers, so there will always be a delay of one day.

*If you live out of the continental USA and you win, you must cover your shipping. Just email me to be enter for the 12 Days of Christmas Give Away. Enter just once for the full contest if you want to.

STRONG stunning piece for a room. The size is 40 x 40 inches. The strength of the horses and the color tell the story through the energy of the palette knife.

The White Dog Gallery is in Carbondale, Colorado. I have been a featured artist there since February of 2013.
