Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur

©1990-2013 Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur, all rights reserved
Aspen tree and birch tree paintings are my specialty.  Although I paint other subject matter, which I love, I'm particularly known for my vibrant, emotive, and uplifting tree paintings.

This 36"x36" acrylic palette knife painting on wide bordered canvas is titled, "Harmonious Encore".  If there is just a hint of light in the room, this painting has an ethereal glow that emanates right off of the canvas.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that uplifts your soul.

Bloomin' Onion by Pamela Blaies

I was pleasantly surprised to find this little forgotten gem tucked away in a drawer in my fridge. With its deep, jewel tone reds and bright green sprout, God provided a perfect color complement. I read somewhere that when planted, this little sprout will flower into something beautiful.

Winter Birch Trees oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Climbing Trees IV” ©2013 Niki Gulley
40” x 30” oil on canvas

Growing up in the midwest, I loved the first snowfall of the year when everything would get a beautiful dusting of pristine white powder, including even the tiniest of branches in the treetops above. If you caught that moment early enough in the morning before anything had disturbed the intricate frosted web, it was just magical. Then the sun would start rising and peeking through the limbs, and everything would sparkle like diamonds. In Climbing Trees, I wanted to capture that beautiful moment when the sunlight dances through the icing on the treetops and you can feel yourself looking up in wonderment just like you did when you were a kid.

For more information on Climbing Trees IV, please contact my gallery, American Fine Art, at AmericanFineArt.com.

"Cliffs at Dingle, Ireland II" by Karla Nolan

I received an inquiry from a young lady recently -- she had seen my artwork on-line and liked it (which, of course, I do encourage -- viewing and liking!).  Her grandmother had passed away and left some palette knife oil paintings which she liked, as did her sister.  So, I was commissioned by her to recreate a 12"x16" palette knife oil painting, sizing it down to an 8"x10" artwork.  The smaller one would be more affordable, of course, and a standard size is easy to frame.  You can see the end result above -- I e-mailed her a photo of the finished work, she was pleased, and now this piece of art is on its way to her sister!  Yaay!

Commissions can be a challenge to create -- the client and the artist need to stay in touch -- but are also a fun challenge and painting a different size image from the originally view piece of art is like reliving a couple of memories -- reviewing the flower, landscape, skies, whatever the subject may be and then reliving the original act of painting again, but to a different scale.  I recommend it!

"Cliffs at Dingle, Ireland II", 8"x10" palette knife oil painting on linen, SOLD, but you can contact me for something similar, should you like!  KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Solo Sail on Lake Como (Italy)"

Have you ever heard of "The Three Tenors"?  Of course you have!  Well, the other day I was hauling up recently painted canvases to put on the mantel over the fireplace so I could get a different view of them.  It occurred to me then -- I am frequently painting one of "The Three 'I's" -- Israel, Ireland, or Italy!  Go figure, these wonderful lands all start with the same initial, I find humor in that....

So....this a one view of Lake Como -- it is so beautiful in this part of Italy, the water just invites you to take a ride on it.  We took the ferry from town to town and I made use of my point and shoot camera for reference photos.  I specifically use a point and shoot, not an elaborate or expensive camera, so I can play the giant editor, just want to make sure I'm close to the geography or the play of the light in the sky, in the water.  From Italy to you, I bring you a short sail on the waters of Lago di Como!  Ciao!

"Solo Sail on Lake Como (Italy)", 12"x16" unframed palette knife and brush oil painting on canvas, $385 plus s/h to be determined at time of sale, Paypal button (click below) or write me for more info at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

First Painting of the New Year by Pamela Blaies

9" x 12"
oil

Happy New Year!

Here is my first painting of 2013. I did a study of a similar composition to this a few days ago and was planning to make this a second study. But I liked the setup so much that I decided to go ahead and get out my oil primed linen. This color combination and ultra-dramatic lighting is stunning to me. It was a fun challenge to keep it fresh and loose when painting so small. I think I'd like to paint something like this again as a larger painting.

I love to share my art and inspiration. Click HERE to sign up for my email newsletter and receive a free gift of postcards.

Wishing everyone a wonderful 2013!

I am excited to begin 2013 as a new member of Palette Knife Painters. My artwork focuses primarily on the prairie landscape, where it seems the wind is always blowing.  I like using the palette knife because it allows me to convey that sense of movement in the painting.
