BRIGHT CONTEMPORARY DRESSAGE HORSE by OLGA WAGNER

This boy is hanging on my wall while I contemplate it's name...This painting has to be admired in person to fully appreciate the incredible depth of the colors...Once varnished the colors will pop even more and the painting will scream WOW...

DRAMATIC PALETTE KNIFE EQUINE PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

This BIG boy is rather striking and looks very dramatic on the wall. Once fully dry, I will be hanging this one at the Focal Point Gallery in Chapel Hill.

PALETTE KNIFE BRIGHT WHITE HORSE PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

After finishing the lily in powerful shades of red, I wanted to continue with more reds. This painting is based on the Venice Horses of St. Mark, the bronze statues of chariot race horses with the cutest roached manes. Love...Love the power of this color palette. I wander what this would look like on a much larger scale...

PALETTE KNIFE EQUINE PAINTING by OLGA WAGNER

Still working on the portrait of the girl - Got her left hand taken care of and worked a bit more on the background. Her right hand is almost there...I WILL finish it tomorrow...

Meanwhile here is another Palette knife equine painting - I am thrilled with the colors on this Stud Muffin Man - such a soothing palette...

WILD PONY - ABSTRACT HIGHLY TEXTURED by OLGA WAGNER

My hubby absolutely loves this wild creation. It's one of the pieces that will be going with me to the Art Festival ion Chapell Hill on October 2nd. It is a bit scary to think that the festival is almost here and I still have few more pieces to put together for it. I really need to clone myself!

BLACK and WHITE HORSE in PALETTE KNIFE

This boy was meant to be finished and dry for this upcoming Friday's group show at the Local Color Gallery in Raleigh...However, life had other ideas! With everything going on, I put the painting aside and forgot to finish the sides. It would have looked really cool displayed on the wall with my other 12 x 12 horse paintings.

GREY HORSE by OLGA WAGNER

Last week has been really tough on me. Between having to carry the pager for work and my little kitty being sick, I have not been getting any sleep. Thank goodness we have a very comfortable couch which allows me to get a couple of hours of sleep at a time. I love to wrap myself with fleece blankies and snuggle into the soft couch!

My little man, Pugsley, was just diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowl Disease (that's after suffering with chronic pancreatitis for the last 3 years - Poor dude can't get any breaks... See the picture of the cutie below...

This little painting was finished last night. The finishing touches went on about 4am...

ABSTRACTED EQUINE - Palette Knife by OLGA WAGNER

Found some time to finally finish this boy. I enjoyed the previous painting and continued using the "Buttocks" perspective... I am really loving the palette knife and what it allows me to do with the paint, but one of these days, when my brain gets out of it's chaos mode I will definitely go back to the brushes.

ABSTRACTED CONTEMPORARY HORSE PAINTING

It is amazing how artist's MOJO works and where the inspiration comes from. I found this pretty photo (see bottom of this post) in the image library on wetcavas site. The muscular buttocks spoke to me and the painting was born. Again, I wanted to stick to a very limited color palette. The colors used to create this beauty were: Royal Blue, Indigo, Carmine Lake, Naples Yellow and Naples Yellow Golden and Titanium White.

"Rosie" Original Palette Knife Abstract Horse Equine Painting by Kimberly Conrad

I have sold more prints of this painting than anything I have ever done!!! It was originally just another expressionist piece..that I decided to put an animal in...but already had the background done in wet oil paint, so there was no way to sketch (I am a horrible sketcher anyway!!)..she looks more like a misfit horse/donkey...so I decided to do a series of these with different animals and call it the "Misfit Series". Rosie has been well loved, and has sold more than a dozen prints both to the old and the young. This summer it is my goal to add a few more misfit animal paintings to the series!!
