"Art and music are to my soul, as food and water are to my body. I believe that they are two of God's most precious gifts to His children. As the author and giver of creativity, through these gifts, He has given us a portion of Himself. He created the very first canvas, magnificently painted it, and brought it to life" I am a full time artist, dividing my time between painting and teaching in my Colorado studio. Having painted on most every surface imaginable, at this time I work primarily on canvas, board, and paper. Though my style remains quite diverse, I believe I have the heart of an Abstract Expressionist, or even more accurately, an Action Expressionist, as I am most definitely an "action painter". Each painting is a journey , dictated by primarily by my current thoughts and emotions, be they happy, sad, peaceful or frenzied. It is a mysterious relationship, and is thrilling when the painting finally reveals itself, and our private journey becomes a story to share.

"Rosie" Original Palette Knife Expressionism Equine, Horse Painting by Colorado Abstract Artist Kimberly Conrad
Original 11"x14" palette knife oil donkey painting on prepared paper. This is another piece I am removing from my private collection....part of the "Misfit" series from 2009. This piece has been in a beautiful frame in my entryway for years....but it is time for a change, and "Rosie" must find new home....
I am at a bit of a crossroads professionally...feeling a bit uninspired, and trying to decide whether to keep "pouring" acrylic...or go back to palette knife oil, which is where I began...or do both...
I was leaning towards going back to palette knife, then yesterday I was commissioned to do two larger poured aspen pieces at a very agreeable price....and possibly a large poured seascape for the same collector...and I have a group of large aspens in the works for a local hospital, so what is a girl to do???? I am thoroughly confused...no telling what I will be posting in the next few weeks.... I fear I will be experimenting ( if I am brave enough) and may be need to apologize ahead of time...Artists are constantly told to "find your voice"....but what that voice speaks many languages????
Anyhow....if you have an interest in misfit "Rosie"...
email kkconrad2@aol.com for pricing.

"Rosie" Original Palette Knife Abstract Horse Equine Painting by Kimberly Conrad
I have sold more prints of this painting than anything I have ever done!!! It was originally just another expressionist piece..that I decided to put an animal in...but already had the background done in wet oil paint, so there was no way to sketch (I am a horrible sketcher anyway!!)..she looks more like a misfit horse/donkey...so I decided to do a series of these with different animals and call it the "Misfit Series". Rosie has been well loved, and has sold more than a dozen prints both to the old and the young. This summer it is my goal to add a few more misfit animal paintings to the series!!Contact Kimberly at kkconrad2@aol.com
