Second to last day ... and after deciding that I don't want to always do a painting a day ... I'm going to miss it! Silly. I think it suits sometimes ... and not other times when I want to really get stuck into a big project. And that's the pleasure of living a seesaw life LOL

BOUGAINVILLEA AND UMBRELLA, 6X8 SOLD

While driving to the post office, I passed this charming garden spot.  The blooming bougainvillea and garden umbrella in contrasting color, caught my eye.

I so enjoy doing these small paintings.  I have little desire to do larger ones these days.  This give me instant gratification and tomorrow, I have the thrill of starting over on a new project.

A few weeks ago, the talented Diana Marshall, from Dublin, Ireland, had a painting give-away.  She offered to do a portrait of choice for the winner, who happened to be ME!

Today I received this great painting of my grandson showing off his prize fish!  Thank you Diana, this will go directly to my grandson Kevin.

This storm's been on my mind hence rainy scenes.

Well.....I'm an artist, a mother, a wife, a gardener, a daughter, an organizer, a sister, a traveler, a scuba diver, an animal lover, a flower collector, a home body, a decorator, a blogger, and a coffee lover, chocolate fanatic!

I do love to paint and so of all my activities, this I do everyday, for some 20 years now.

As I sit here typing it is pouring beautiful, soft rain. A lovely drumming sound as the sun sets.

We went to Redrock today and hiked around and had a great picnic lunch.

A great day and wonderful to feel the sun and fresh air.  Rock formations are unbelievable!

Playing with textures and colors! I usually paint in much brighter colors everywhere but to achieve a soft rainy effect here I subdued and blurred the background thus bringing the couple to the focal point, drawing your eye right to the pop of red. I love the romance of Paris! What a city.

Another from my series on Angels.  this started as an angel holding an umbrella but I was not really happy with it.  So actually this is a re-do - repaint - fixed up - painting.  I still wanted the angel to hold an umbrella - maybe I got that idea from an insurance ad, nonethelsss,

I think angels do look out for us......so here is one holding out an umbrella to protect us from the storms.  I changed the postion of her arms and her body and changed the color to a more soothing softer shade using the same pallete as the painting I'd done earlier called Angel Thoughts.  

The arm positoning was a suggestion from my painting buddy, Barbara whom I paint with nearly every week.  It's good having a painting buddy to paint and talk art with.  In a sense, she's my painting angel.  So if you haven't got one, do find someone to paint with.  It "makes" you paint - which is a good thing.
