"Pear Season" by Northern California Artist Mark Bidstrup

Pears in our foothills are becoming ripe. Several trees in the neighborhood are very close to picking! This perhaps is a bit more stylized than I normally treat still life painting, but I liked the glow it has.

6"x6"  Oil on canvas panel. $175.00 unframed. Shipping included.

Please contact me at m_bidstrup@yahoo.com if you are interested in this painting. (gallery inquiries are always welcome!)

Lavender at the Abbey, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Lavendar at the Abbey
10x8 oil on ray mar canvas panel

I painted this during my recent trip with Art Treks in Southern France.  I sketched this out while at the abbey and painted it the next day. The lavender were at their peak and looked beautiful in front  of this historic abbey near Gordes in Provence, France.  This is available for purchase. $200.00

These pinks, blues, purples and greens are really my favorite colors.  I think they give a very soothing feeling to this small floral still life.

Night Crossing Horse Paintings, Contemporary Palette Knife Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Night Crossing
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:24 x 24  Oil on Canvas. Sold
Prints are available. Contact me.

I fell in love with the movement on this painting as it evolved on the canvas. The palette was quiet compared to my normal rainbow palette, but the energy was high and the movement of paint led the eye throughout this contemporary horse painting.  Completed with caramel browns, ultramarine blues, white, mauves and mixes of all three...the palette offers up earth tones in a quiet deep thrust.

You cannot plan this type painting. It comes from deep within the creative spirit.

 In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
    and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3

Daisy Hearts and Delphs - Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina

Daisy Hearts and Delphs
by Nancy Medina
24X24
Oil on Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas

My new hydrangea DVD

Daisy Hearts and Delphs is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, another large canvas after weeks of small paintings. I felt the need to stretch those brushes! I couldn't decide whether to subdue the pinks on this one, or keep them full blast. Thanks to my Facebook friends who made some great suggestions and - the vote to keep the pinks strong was unanimous! I carried the orange around by moving it into the belly buttons of the daisies, and then scattered pink petals on the tabletop corners, too. I like to think of this part as getting my chicken out, strapping his boots on, and letting him walk that color around the canvas. That's my farm girl roots showing a bit...

Flower Painting | Floral Still Life | Small Oil Painting | Rhododendron by Carol Schiff 6x8 Oil

Still painting flowers!  Hope you have not tired of them yet.  I will try to break up the flower posts with other subject matter, just to keep you awake.

$95 + 6.50

This petite bouquet of rhododendron blossoms grew next to my house in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I snipped a few and placed them in a jelly jar on my kitchen window sill.  I love the effect of the darkened flowers with the bright light flowing in behind them.

My goal with these little works is to keep strong basic shapes and let the viewer's eye fill in missing pieces.  As you can see from this photo, the paint is thick and the strokes are few.

Happy Morning to you!

Cut Away Over the Moon, Palette Knife Guitar Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Cut Away Over the Moon by ©Laurie Pace 2014

Cut Away Over the Moon
©+Laurie Pace       Graphics One Design 2014

 Size:24 x 36  Oil on Canvas.

This contemporary abstract painting is of my Taylor guitar. It is one of the loves of my life.  Custom made for me to play, small and easy to manage if we travel... and my arms never tire of stroking and holding her.

She is the inspiration of this painting. She has a 'cut away' at the top which for those of you that do not play guitar, it allows me to finger further on the neck of the guitar.   The "over the moon" part of the title is from the layers of music on the original surface.

This palette knife Guitar painting was NOT as easy thing yesterday. I was on my feet over five hours as it evolved several directions. I painted it more like my old pear paintings of days almost ten years ago... and tried to keep the freshness of thick paint like my guitars of years ago.  Maybe it is time for more music in my life.

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:9

Art Sale | Tropical Painting | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Florida Morning by Carol Schiff | 6x8 Oil

Time for my weekly painting on sale. This painting is the result of an early morning adventure.  I grabbed a cup of coffee and my camera and jumped into my car.  I arrived at the intracoastal park just in time to record the sun breaking over the horizon. I still remember the quiet and peace of that morning.  I highly recommend  everyone give it a try now and then.

Tropical Landscape Painting | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Palette Knife Art | Tropical Glow by Carol Schiff | 6x12" Oil

I was down at the inter-coastal one evening in late November, just as the sun started it's journey below the horizon.

When the sunlight hit the trunks of  palms, they seemed to glow, almost like they were on fire.

Some times, I like to display my paintings on a shelf instead of framing and hanging on the wall.

This painting has been licensed and reproduced as a hand-distressed solid wood plank wall decor.  You may have seen it on OneKingsLane.com, JoshandMain.com or Wayfare.com.

Thanks for viewing my daily paintings.  Have a great weekend everybody!

Small Landscape Painting | Marsh Painting | Small Oil Painting | Daily Painting | Southern Marsh by Carol Schiff | SOLD

I just love playing with the palette knife.

Purchase here
SOLD
I love smearing the paint around with it.  I love the textures I achieve.  I love trying new techniques with it.  I like the way I can just give my knife a swipe and it is clean, so unlike cleaning brushes :(

It is maybe a little addiction.

Most of the time, I like to incorporate the brush and the palette knife into a painting, but some days I just go all the way with the knife.

It's kind of like cleaning my kitchen counter.  I could clean off my counter for hours on end.  I have to have a wet sponge and then I could just wipe, wipe, wipe.  It's just so satisfying.....and I guess that it how I feel about using a palette knife.

The only thing I don't like is how fast my tubes of paint disappear!

Have a fabulous weekend!!
