Indigo Lace Hydrangeas is the latest effort in Flower Mound Studio. I spent the day painting a red wagon filled with geraniums, and then wiped the whole thing because the proportions were wrong. I have closets filled with rejects and wiped canvases, I never throw away a canvas, it can always be reused! A lovely gal from Florida sent me a piece of copper to try out painting on a new surface. Stay tuned, as soon as I get it prepped, I'll give it a try and share the results with you.

Maybe these fresh hydrangeas will 

hold out one more day for me!

Fall Ladies White Pumpkin and Hydrangeas was my class demonstration this morning in North Texas, as we wrapped up three days of painting flowers in North Texas. I completed demos of stargazer lilies, sunflowers, white roses, red poppies, and white hydrangeas. In the afternoons, we worked together step by step to create original paintings, including a study of a large clear vase fondly referred to as "Big Blue". It seemed only fitting on the last day to paint a pumpkin, since the holiday is right around the corner! Here's to a beautiful week to come, cooler weather, and lots of sunshine as we gear up for pumpkin pie and turkey and all the trimmings!

I brought a few of my water drenched purple iris in from the chill this evening and put them under the spotlight. It took about 30 minutes for them to give up the iris ghost, but their beautiful purples hung in there just long enough for me to mix a shade of fuschia I could live with. I'm washing the brushes, putting my paints away, and mentally preparing for tomorrow, the last day of my life in corporate America. Two weeks ago, I gave my notice for my six-figure day job as a magazine director. Tomorrow I will turn in my office key, carry my cardboard box of plaques and pictures out of the office, and fulfill my dream of becoming a full time artist and art teacher. Thanks to everyone who has sent words of encouragement and courage and their own stories of making the same decision - and thriving! I am needing courage right now! I'm hopeful that my art will continue to grow, and excited about what comes next in this next chapter. One thing is certain, there is no turning back. It's time to follow some bliss!
