It is been a challenge with the computer the last couple of days. I left my family in Oregon 2 days ago and have been on the road. I stayed the night in Baker City, Oregon which is in Eastern Oregon. The internet access that I had was verrrrry slow, but I did manage to get some work done. And, that was the problem, some but not all the work. I uploaded my new e-book, but was not able to finish the job. So, those that paid were not getting the e-book. Once I got to my friend, Shanna Kunz' house in Utah I finally got a good connection. This morning I was able to finish everything with the e-book and now trying to catch up with the blogging, emails, etc, etc.

I've got some more photography to take to catch up. But for now, I'm painting with my friend Shanna!

Talk to you all tomorrow.

Land And Sea, Contemporary Abstract Palette Knife Landscape Seascape by Janet Bludau

12" x 24"
Oil on Thick Gallery Wrapped Canvas

This painting started out with a solid layer of red paint.
From there, I did a simple drawing with very light, thin paint.
I mixed a few colors I thought I might like to use on my palette.
I then started with brushwork but still staying thin with my paint, being careful not to cover up all of my red undercoat.  After I was happy with my colors on the canvas, I went back in with thicker paint with my brushes and palette knives.  Again, being careful not to cover up all my red beneath.  Lastly, I did some scraping with the side of my knife in the foreground which gives us more grass like shapes and again, more undercoat to show through.

"Party Lines" Colorful Abstract Palette Knife Paintings by California Janet Bludau

8" x 16" Oil
Party Lines is a painting I truly enjoyed painting.
The colors came together easily and I like how they look with my green underpainting.
When it came to the telephone lines, I went searching for string that I was going to dip into the oil paint.
I made sure to practice on a piece of paper first until I had the hang of it.
I will assume everyone knows what party lines are (were) but if you are a real youngin', feel free to email me for a definition!  bludauart@gmail.com
