Art Touches the Heart by Pamela Blaies

20" x 16"
Oil on Canvas

I am spending this weekend exhibiting at the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park in the Houston area. The weather is great, the sales have been spectacular and it has been fun to visit with so many art lovers and collectors. Two of my paintings brought tears to the eyes of not one, not two, three or four, but FIVE tender souls. I loved hearing how my art touched them in such a powerful way. One mom came into my booth with her daughter, who looked to be around 15 or 16 years old. She told me how this painting, Little Miss Independent, had instantly flooded her mind with the touching memory of her daughter as a young flower girl a decade ago. I looked over at her daughter and asked her if she had an independent streak as a child--she just looked back at me and grinned.

Salon International 2012 by Pamela Blaies

18" x 24"
Oil on canvas

I am so excited to announce that this painting has been selected to exhibit in Salon International 2012 hosted by Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio. The exhibit will run from April 14 - May 4 2012. I am honored to be a part of this exclusive exhibit and look forward to attending the opening reception on April 14th.

My daughter was modeling for me and I had initially wanted her to hold her Daddy's guitar for the composition I was trying to put together. The guitar was way to big for her to sit comfortably and so I let her take a rest while I took a little break. When I returned from my break, I found the perfect composition waiting for me!

PORTRAIT OF A BOY by OLGA WAGNER

This painting is based on my Nephew Logan... This is my first portrait where I did not pre-draw the face. I used a brush to quickly sketch out the general outline and eye location and then proceeded with painting of the little dude. My goal was to come close to the likeness , but not to stress about it... For me painting people is much more of a stretch then painting furries - therefore I need more practice..practice...practice...

Sweet Dreams by Pamela Blaies

18" x 24"
Oil on Canvas

I haven't blogged in awhile.  My dad had a stroke last week and passed away this past Sunday.  He was a wonderful man who made a difference in many lives and many people loved him.  His family was very dear to him and we all felt very secure in his deep abiding love for us.  I was so glad I was able to show him this  finished painting of his granddaughter during our big family Christmas together.  He just loved it.  We shared a love of art and I know he will be proud to watch as I continue to pursue my passion of painting.
