We painted flowers til the cows came home in the Texas Hill Country this week! Tomorrow is the last day of my four day painting/marketing workshop for The Good Art Company school, and I'm so sad to say goodbye to these talented gals from Michigan, San Diego, Louisiana, and across Texas. We painted pink lilies, white hydrangeas, irises and sunflowers this week, and started each morning with fresh kolaches and cheese danish from the local bakery. Visit my art blog today to see pictures from our adventure this week, as well as a photo of a rare blue cow, spotted just outside the classroom. Clearly he had been subsisting on a diet of bluebonnets for quite some time!

Early to Rise Pink and Red Poppies of the Texas Hill Country by Nancy Medina

Early to Rise Pink and Red Poppies
by Nancy Medina
11X14
Oil on Museum Quality Linen Panel

Early to Rise Pink and Red Poppies is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I begin work on a large Texas landscape for a beautiful Flower Mound home. These poppies are based on the field of tossing and turning blossoms at Wildseed Farms in Fredericksburg, Texas last week. The wind never rested while I snapped photos as quickly as I could - one must tread carefully when photographing outdoor flowers in Texas, watching especially for fire ants! Happily, I was not attacked by the awful little beasties during this photoshoot. Like a big flower game hunter, I carried home hundreds of new flower photos, much preferred over hundreds of new ant bites...

Fresh Sunflowers and a Fredericksburg Art Invitation by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Coastal Color Sunflowers
by Nancy Medina
12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Coastal Color Sunflowers is the newest small daily, continuing the lavishly lavender theme this week. I'll be leaving Thursday for the Hill Country and the historic German town of Fredericksburg, Texas. Dozens of art events are kicking off in Fredericksburg, which is hosting the Oil Painters of America show. I'll be the featured artist Friday evening at the Good Art Company gallery and my workshop begins Friday morning. There are still a few seats open in my 3-day workshop this weekend, so don't delay - let's share some German pastries, look out over rolling cabins and hills from the classroom windows, and make flowers bloom in brilliant colors!

You are cordially invited to join me in historic Fredericksburg, Texas, amidst rolling hills, cabins, beautiful vistas, and awesome German bakeries for a perfect workshop retreat!
