As always, we start with a sketch in a warm transparent color...I am using Transparent Orange.
Then we cover the canvas with pure transparent colors. It is very important to get the darks as dark as you want them to be, as they will be the base for laying in the lights on top of them.
Don't forget that if you want an area lighter you can always wipe it off with a paper towel or a q-tip. Notice his breast feathers and the area in front of him has been wiped to get the brightness effect.
Here is the view of my studio. YES, there is a very large cow in the making ..
