Caribbean Regatta by Bob Read

Every year many islands hold Regattas to attract sailors and tourists...and it works. The island of Bequia holds theirs the end of March or early April.  30-50 mariners and their crews descend upon the island for fun, frolic, and of course, the deadly serious art of seamanship in the half-dozen races. Each craft has bright uniforms for its crew though it's the sails that distinguish each boat, especially once they've exited the bay. This painting shows one of Sunday's races beginning in Friendship Bay on the east side of the island.  It's almost more fun being a spectator as people and competitors come from several countries, though mainly the U.S., Canada, and Europe.  I'd enjoy your feedback on my website at http://www.bobread.artist.com/ where you can see my other paintings.
