STILL MORE EGGS BY TOM BROWN

Which came first, the brush or palette knife; the chicken or the egg?

I have a split loyalty to both brush paintings and knife paintings. Always have had. Each offers a unique painting experience with very different results.

Yesterday I posted an egg painting done with brushes. Today I painted the same eggs using a knife.

A brush yields soft, quiet strokes well suited to the shape of an egg. The knife produces a dynamic, powerful and energetic feel; it goes right to the heart of the subject. But much more challenging for a subject like this. And potentially just as rewarding in a very different way.

I like both, equally well. For different reasons in each case.

Which comes first in your eyes? Let me know. tombrownstudio@cox.net

“WHICH CAME FIRST, TOO?” is a 6x6 inch oil painting. It’s very reasonably priced at the moment. Email for details if you would like it.
