"Painted Spring" New Bluebonnet oil painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Painted Spring" ©2015 Niki Gulley
24" x 12" textured oil painting

I painted these Texas Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush and Primrose with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this vertical wildflower series, I've framed the paintings in espresso floater frames so that you can still see the textured oil paint continuing around the edges of the canvas. These Texas wildflowers look great hung alone or in a grouping, too!

"Baby Owl" by Lynda Cookson

"Baby Owl" is rather pertinent for us at this time of the year when our Barn Owls and Screech Owls are back in the garden, hooting their haunting hoots (or, in the case of the Screech Owl, pretending to murder someone!!) perched on the roof of my studio barn.

This little fella is for sale. Please just click the image or the title below the image.

"Quartet" by Karla Nolan, original watercolor and ink painting on paper

I feel that you can see the past, present and future in this poppy painting.  Fitting for the season, eh?  The seeds have formed from the flower having bloomed, ready to throw to the next generation.  The poppies are in various stages of bloom and there are a couple of buds just ready to burst open!  Ah, Mama Nature strikes again!

"Quartet", 9.5"x7.5" watercolor and ink (unmatted), $115 which includes s/h in continental U.S., contact me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information, Paypal accepted

Thanks for looking!

Just Because by Kay Wyne

Just Because
36" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Palette Knife Painting
My inspiration for this painting was a beautiful arrangement that son in-law Wes gave to daughter Lindsay. I asked what the occasion was......."just because" was the answer that I got. I used thick strokes with the palette knife.

This painting is currently hanging at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas.  Sharon Hodges, Steve Hahn and I were interviewed for an article published last week in the local paper.  Click for the article about Dutch Art Gallery's 50 year anniversary.  I am working on a series of florals for an upcoming show...and getting ready for Christmas!  Thanks for looking at this blog, Kay

Floral, Still Life, Sunflower, Daily Painting, Oil, SOLD

A couple of years ago, I spent a wonderful week at Seven Devils, North Carolina with my group of art buddies, Pieces of Eight.  Cindy, who hosted us that year, proved once again to be the perfect hostess.  She had many art related activities planned for us.   We toured museums, galleries and several artist's  studios.  I didn't get much painting done, but I made up for it with plenty of inspiration from my photos.

SOLD
I photographed this sunflower at Grandfather Vineyard, and painted from it in my comfortable studio.  I hope someday I get to the point of knowing what a painting will look like before I start it.  I am not there now.  I started this with something completely different in mind, but I am happy with the results.

I enjoy doing works with plenty of texture.  I think it brings an additional quality to the piece and I like the way viewers want to reach out and touch it.

Are you able to choreograph where you want your painting to go, or are you flying by the seat of your pants like me?

Daily Painting, SOLD "Red Berries and Leaves" 8x10" Small Landscape

The image for this painting came from an autumn hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I love being there this time of year when color is everywhere.

I was attracted to this image because of the unusual color and also by the abstract qualities of the branches.

Blogger is up to it's old tricks this morning, not behaving at all, and insisting on putting my second image at the top of the post.  I had this problem a few weeks ago, then it magically disappeared, now it is back!  ARGH!!!!!!!

OTTER,6X8, OIL, SOLD

Don't you think otters are just the cutest things on earth?  I love the way they swim on their backs.  The only thing I don't love is when they catch the baby ducks and chow down...but that is nature!

I have been out of town the last week or so.  I want to thank everyone who was so kind to review my blog each day and especially those of you who left such nice comments.  I am really behind the eight ball at the moment with lots of projects to check off the list, so I probably won't get around to replying to each one of you individually, but I want you to know how important you are to me.  I take great pride in your comments and appreciate all the specifics you mention.  It helps me have insight into how my work appears to others.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I hope to get back to my daily browsing of your sites soon.

Benbrook Creek, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Benbrook Creek
14x7 oil on canvas
I created this on location in Benbrook, Texas.  I met my friend Jill recently to take advantage of these warm fall  temperatures.  We try to get out while we can. The mild weather is a big draw to our plein air adventures. It was a good day.

Seascape, "California Bliss", 6x12" SOLD

It always amazes me how different the Atlantic is from the Pacific.  Here, on the east coast, we have mornings when the ocean looks like a big lake, hardly a ripple breaks the surface.

SOLD
I don't have as much experience with the west coast, but it appears to be much more intense.  I have only been to the Pacific in northern California, where it is a deep, beautiful blue, unlike the semi-tropical waters we have in Florida, which can be a bright turquoise.

The reference image for this painting came from Shelly Smart's blog, A Year at the Beach.  She is not posting it anymore, but it remains a fascinating journal.  She posted images of her beach every day for a year.  Thank you Shelly, for sharing your images with me.

$35 – CITY HOLIDAY SNOWFALL by TOM BROWN

CITY HOLIDAY SNOWFALL
6x6 Oil by TOM BROWN

This will make the perfect Holiday gift for someone special or for your own collection.

It is definitely a conversation starter, as well as an interesting and unique work of art I am sure you will enjoy for years to come. It was created by transforming an ordinary piece of used cardboard into a winter cityscape to help us view our everyday surroundings in a new light.

The cardboard had been part of a shipping container. I applied oil paints directly onto surface, carefully incorporating portions of existing creases and torn surface areas. I wanted to deliberately include some of these existing marks and creases to reflect the passage of time on the walls. Large areas of the cardboard were left untouched.

This piece is painted with genuine oil paints on a 6x6 inch piece of heavyweight corrugated cardboard. It is signed on the front in the lower right corner. It can be displayed on a tabletop easel or it will fit in a standard-sized 6x6 frame.

All paintings in my Etsy Gallery are offered at “Gift-Giving” prices right now. You even get FREE SHIPPING for additional paintings purchased at the same time.

Beat the crowd because each painting is one-of-a-kind and when it’s gone, it’s gone. So don’t hesitate. It’s all first come, first served. Happy Holidays!

Granbury Creek, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Granbury Creek
14x7 oil on canvas
I created this on location near my home in Granbury.  This small creek calls me every time I drive past it. You must return and paint here! I finally did it. I met my friend Jill after work on a cloudy afternoon. I enjoyed the consistent light.
