| Glass Study #6 ~ Blue and Green Glass 8"x8" oil on Archival BoardClick for a Larger View Making just a little more progress rendering glass in Oil paints! Glass Study #6 I believe is my best one so far. Though I have started study #7 so stay tuned. Some of my astute artist friends, if you look closele or go to the Larger View you may notice a few brush strokes (shhh, don't tell) I know, another traditional painting (my 3rd in 3 years) and Brush strokes too! ] Can you believe it??? Sadly, I have fallen of the wagon of 30 days of painting. However, the reason for this was because I was in Scottsdale AZ going from gallery to gallery viewing LOTS of art! So in a way I was painting with my eyes ad memories. Does that count? I am going to say yes! I am back home now and back to the paints with lots of inspiration and ideas! We shall see what these ideas turn into? Visit the Heart of My Art Go Inside My Head Like Me on Facebook |

Chase The Sun by Roxanne Steed
8"x8" oil on archival panel
"A good laugh is sunshine in the house."
-William Makepeace Thackeray
Monday afternoon I came back inside to paint another cheery bouquet. These yellow daisies and purple statice flowers have lasted so long! It's such fun to change the colored cloths around with each arrangement, looking for every subtle color influence, cast shadows, reflections, all interesting to the eye. I chose the name "Chasing The Sun" since I have a feeling we're going to be doing that this week here in coastal Connecticut. The good thing is, all these April showers are going to make for a fabulous May!

Orange You Sweet?! by Roxanne Steed
8"x8" oil on gessoed masonite archival artboard
"There is no blue without yellow and without orange."
- Vincent Van Gogh
"Orange You Sweet" is an 8"x8" oil on gessoed masonite artboard. Ol' Vincent sure does have a point, these two colors sure do resonate with each other. Vincent also realized that opposites on the color wheel really vibrate when placed side-by-side. He certainly took advantage of this in his own paintings. I especially loved catching that glow of amber honey reflecting onto to the blue vase. This painting is nice to pair with "Cure For A Case Of the Januaries" that I painted the other day...or they certainly can stand alone. Daisies are so cheery, especially in the dreariest of winter days.
Another cure for a case of the "Januaries"! For more information about this painting, contact me roxannesteed@gmail.com
