Estes Park Colorado Landscape Painting

Last year, Tom and I went to Estes Park, Colorado.  It is one of our treasured National Parks that I hope to return to one day.  If you ever get a chance to visit, be sure you spend a day up at Bear Lake!  Tom and I went at least two or three times.  We came away with some incredible photos for me to use for subject matter to paint.  This 11"x14" acrylic painting, "Autumn Inspiration" is inspired by one of my walks up at Bear Lake.  The aspens were just beginning to change.  The brilliant hues of the quaking leaves, against the azure sky, captured my spirit.  I suppose that's why we went back two days later to do some more photo shoots and take in the extraordinary beauty of this magical wonderland.
This  expressive painting is available on my website.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that inspires and uplifts your soul! - Jill

New Textured Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

“Autumn Splendor” ©2011 Niki Gulley
36” x 48” textured oil on wrap around canvas

Shimmering colors of autumn: Aspen trees quiver, their light graceful leaves tremble and quake, silver and gold, silver and gold with each light breeze. There is the quiet energy of change coming and vibrant color charges the woods. Crisp fall mountain air, clean bright skies overhead, a band of slender straight trunks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling tumble of green, crimson and gold.

You may see this painting and more of my textured oil paintings at my booth this weekend at Art in the Square, Booth #J5, in Southlake, TX. Visit artinthesquare.com/default.aspx for details.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on my aspen and birch tree paintings.

SOLD • 30" x 40" oil on canvas

Sold to a collector in Madison, WI. These playful aspen trees were created with palette knife and gallons of oil paint to achieve texture, movement and colors that explode off the canvas, all while capturing the childlike wonder of staring into the treetops.

Transitional Tones oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Transitional Tones” ©2010 Niki Gulley
12” x 12” oil on canvas

I created these birch trees with palette knife and extremely thick oil paint to achieve texture and suggest the energy found in nature. The image is painted around the sides of the 1.5 inch deep gallery wrap canvas so that it looks three-dimensional and can be hung as is without a frame for a contemporary look. These chunky birch paintings look great in pairs and threes.

If you'd like to learn how to create loose, vibrant paintings join us this fall in my adult art classes in Dallas. I am beginning registration and classes fill up quickly, so visit NikiGulley.com or e-mail me at Niki@NikiGulley.com for more information.
