I never know what genre a painting like this falls into.  Is it a landscape?  Is it a still life?  I think it may be a landscape because it has not been "arranged".

This apple is from my favorite orchard in North Carolina, just outside of Waynesville.  Most of the year it is very quite there, but in the fall, it is the place to be.  The orchard also has a bakery and long, long lines exist all day, every day.  I have stood in line many times myself to buy their delicious apple cider donuts or cakes, fritters and pies.

During our stay in the mountains last month, we visited the apple orchard several times.  The apples are great, but the bakery is my favorite.......apple cider doughnuts, apple cake and apple fritters...YUM!

I like to think this apple ended up in one of my favorite goodies.

Apple Painting "Apple Allure" by Jill Saur

I love fuji apples.  I decided to render it in deep blues and give it an other-world atmosphere.  

The background represents the universe and the apple is sitting on a table that represents the earth.  There is a lot of texture on this 8"x8" acrylic painting and I have it varnished in a gloss finish.  It's for sale if it doesn't end up in my kitchen first!
